I stayed there in September 2014 and found it to have friendly staff, a very clean and charming room and a good breakfast buffet The view from the hotel is gorgeous, which means it is a bit of a climb when coming from the train station and/or the parking area. Well worth it and not a problem at all for... More

I stayed at Hotel Sonnenberg for 2 nights and my room was quite good. Pros: 1. The room was very spacious with a small balcony with very nice views over Grindelwald. 2. There is a gentleman who was managing the hotel..and I really appreciated his friendliness. He came down and helped us with the luggage and suggested a nice Indian... More

This lovely hotel is in an elevated position above central Grindelwald. We had a room on the second floor overlooking the village across to the Eiger. The view from the balcony is fantastic! The room was a good size, with a king sized bed and a sofa and table and a modern, clean bathroom. Breakfast was a cold buffet, with... More

I went to Grindelwald to run the Eiger Ultra Trail Marathon. This means getting up very early and trying to be refreshed to start the run. The hotel was great: it was very quiet but very close to the town centre; they arranged for me to have a large breakfast at a neighbouring hotel that opened their restaurant all night;... More

if you get a room in front (a bit more expensive) the view is amazing from the balcony. Not very modern or stylish rooms, but clean and comfy. Very quiet. No aircon or WiFi. OK breakfast. It´s good value compared to other options in this pricey town/country. The hotel has free parking, but you have to walk a steep path... More

We booked the hotel through the local visitor centre. The hotel rooms are clean and the views over the town are nice. A few things to keep in mind: to walk from the station is hard with luggage (especially in snow) as it is very steep and icy!. The staff are not very helpful and friendly. Don't take your key... We were shocked at how we were treated by the older lady managing the hotel. We were 2 families with young children (stated in our reservation) but when we arrived and asked for sheets for the sofa beds the lady went crazy and was so angry at our request (should we just make the children sleep on the floor?). We... More

The hotel has two stars, not very luxurious. It is located somewhat above Grindelwald village, away from the hassle of the main street. Therefore it is very quiet and the views on Grindelwald and surrounding mountains are absolutely superb. The first night we took the set menu in their restaurant. This was very disappointing, not very well cooked, ingredients out... More

This hotel really worth a 5 stars grading. Great stunning eiger mountain view in the room, decent and nice HB meal offered from the restaurant. You have nothing to complaint about it, even though just a few steps uphill to the resort but it's really worth it! Honestly just takes a 5 minutes walk from the station. Will absolutely come... This place is rated 2 stars… which is about 10 stars less than it really deserves. I’m sure the folks who hand out stars never visited. "Sonnenberg" is the coziest little hotel we ever stayed at. And the cleanest, too. The décor is typical Swiss chalet – inside and outside. The rooms are absolutely wonderful, perfect in size and very... More
