I spent two nights over the weekend in a single room. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room had all facilities and space one person could need. It was only a five minute walk from the main rail station (which has frequent direct trains to Zurich Airport). The room and shower room were very clean. Sat TV and... More

I really want to give a great review to this hotel, because I love the "idea" of the place, but there were a few issues. The concept of a converted hospital building was very well executed. The rooms are quite small, but well designed. The staff was extremely friendly. The free drinks in the lobby fridge were outstanding on a... More

Solothurn is not expensive. It is a beautiful historic town but comparatively less visited. From Room 107 of Swiss Quality an der Aare Hotel, we have the best view of River Aare. One side of the room window parallels a bridge provides lively view of pedestrians walking and buses crossing. Solothurn old town is very busy on Saturday and calm... More

LOCATION: Swiss Quality Hotel An Der Aare is located at Oberer Winkel 2, a quick stroll across the Wengibrücke will bring you into the Old Town. Solothurn train station is about 5~10 minutes away on foot, depending on how much baggage you are lugging... When you exit the train station, look out for signage that directs you to the Hotel... Very authentic place. I joined a seminar, sight seeing and culture. The rooms in the old hospital are convenient, the staff is nice and the food is good. A beautiful place to be. The name of the hotel is "Hotel am Aare", and it is good quality, but that is not the name and this should be corrected in Tripadvisor.... More

Dear Mr. van der Velden Thank you for your honest and positive feedback. The wireless connection is still not working properly in all rooms. The thick walls and old building is quite a challenge and therefore we still provide each room with an internet cable to access the internet easily. But we are working on this problem. We hope to... The hotel has bags of character but as other travellers have alluded to, it is very close to an intercity railway line that can cause the building to vibrate as the trains pass. The room was rustically 'wonky' but with some decent modern features (good TV, good bathroom 'pod' in the room) even if no amount of coaxing would get... More

Great location on the Aare River...but the Main Switzeland Trainline goes past Hotel (within 70 metres) you tend to be woken up every 30 minutes , so bring Earplugs and you might enjoy the silence of the night. We paid the typical exorbitant Swiss Hotel rates...$190 sf plus additional 16sf to park a car for 24 hours.

We loved our stay at the Hotel an der Aare! The hotel is situated in a refurbished 18th century hospital, which has been splendidly restored, retaining all the charm of the historical building (including superb wooden floors) yet mixing it with modern, warm colors and top notch infrastructure, such as classy glass-paneled bathrooms or perfectly tight double-glass windows. Thick walls... More

The hotel has the average price for a Swiss quality hotel. The building first was the staff building of an hospital. It was then converted into a hotel with restaurant. The room was nice with a queen bed. The colors of the wall and lamps are particularly nice. The in-room bathroom was small but practical and convenient. There is a... More

This is the nicest, friendliest, most helpful, most pleasant hotel I have stayed in, maybe ever. I don't know where to start. This is formerly a hospital and student nurses residence. It is actually right on the edge of the Aare River. It's views are as Solothurn as it gets. Out of every window you see Solothurn and the Aare.... More
