Lodging here is an interesting experience, although not one that I'd ever want to repeat. This quaint pension-like hotel has some nice decorative touches (e.g. old-fashioned vases/flowers/doilies; fascinating b/w photos of 1920s Lucerne on the walls). Also sweet views out to the river and a cobblestoned courtyard. Great location and not too noisy in our particular room. Another redeemimg feature... More

Pros: Location, location, location and free reliable wifi in the rooms. This was considered a "budget" hotel at $160-180 Euros a night. Close to everything/right in the middle of downtown. Cons: My room had a very bad odor to it; like something was dead inside the walls type of smell or strong urine odor. About the only solution was to... More

Clean, neat, and modern interior (the hotel room). The lobby looks charming, decorated with cute Swiss knick-knacks, from what I remembered. One of the few European hotels that offers one room for 5-6/7 people at a great rate! The bedroom wasn't too cramped for my family of five to suffer. Bathroom is quite lovely and spacious. Staff are fluent in... More

I booked a double room for 5 nights; the sorrounding environment is quite noisy, especially at night. The Hotel has no car park, you need to use an expensive one located 150-200 m from the hotel (fee: 20 CHF per night). The room was nothing special, I particularly didn't like the moquette, but this is not necessarily a problem for... More

We booked the room for 5, which, even for European standards, was a squeeze. We were there during a heat wave & of course there was no A/C, but the fan didn't work. We asked to have it fixed, and it was too late in the day, so they said it would be fixed the next day. When we got... More

Was given a room in Hotel Baslertor instead, the hotel was not so cheap when i booked it as it was on a peak period. Room was quite small for a family of three to fit. There were no free bottles of mineral water and a small bottle of Evian water or Hot water costs CHF5. The hotel was not... More

A lovely little hotel right in the heart of the tourist area of Luzern on the southside of the river, less than 10min walk from the main station. Quaint not modern, nice swimming pool and jacuzzi in the garden. Don't expect all the mod cons, but this is a great little hotel for the price.

not cheap, but very quiet street and central location. Breakfast was not what it was advertised. Small room, but ok , we were with 5 in the room. We didn't spend much time in the guesthouse so we were happy with it because it was so close to eveything interesting. breakfast dissapointing , was not as advertised, all very minimal and... More

This was our least favorite hotel on our month long trip to Europe. On the plus side, it was budget friendly, and the linens and bathroom were clean. The housekeeping staff was nice, as well. On the minus side, the check-in woman at Hotel Baslertor was not nice. I was able to ignore one particularly snide comment upon check-in, but... More

Stayed here 4 nights after arriving by train. On arriving in Lucerne it was raining heavily so caught Taxi, cost around 15chf but worth not getting soaked, otherwise easy 10 min walk, once you know the way. Check in/out and breakfast is across road at main Hotel. Did not have their Breakfast, at 18chf per person, thought it was a... More
