We arrived in Lucerne on the train. Rolled our luggage across the bridge to the hotel (probably about 5-10 minute walk). Difficult to roll over the cobblestones, but we made it! Very helpful staff. The room was okay. Beds were comfortable. No air conditioning; fan provided. Our room overlooked the square which was noisy, but when the windows were closed... More

This hotel, if you get a river view is perfect. It is close to the train station, easy 5 minute walk. The river view rooms give the guest a wonderful view of Chapel Bridge, Reuss River and the fabulous mountains but beware, the rooms are situated above the outdoor dining area, the outdoor dining area in good weather will bring... This review should be in between average/ good but there isn't the facility. It is as many have said a tight squeeze here but the aspect and location by far make up for that. Our room was on the small side starting to look a little tired we were overlooking the square at the back which could be a little... More

We stayed in a triple river facing room with a balcony in mid June for two nights. The room was quite large and clean. The bathroom was a bit on the smaller side but spotlessly clean. Tea, Coffee making facility available in the room along with a fan which we didn't need as it was cool when we were there.... More

The hotel is well-placed, right on the river Reuss, close to the main tourist attractions. The main areas of the hotel have been nicely renovated, in an hotel that does not have much space due to its location and age. The bedroom we had was in need of renovation. (Bathroom had been renovated). Breakfast was slightly above average for a... More

The Hotel des Alpes is ideally located -- just a 5-minute walk from the train station and right in the heart of the Old Town. It's as scenic a hotel as you will find, right next to the famous Chapel Bridge and with a gorgeous view of the river and mountains. The rooms were fairly small, but the bathrooms are... More

Sometimes, when I read a negative review on here, I wonder whether the problem is really the hard-to-please reviewer. Please note my profile which includes a review-set that is overwhelmingly positive. In other words, I'm pretty easy to please. However... There are tons of places in Lucerne with lake or river views. I picked this one because they had river... More

We made the mistake of walking into the hotel from the footpath beside the river. It was a mistake because there's no lift from that level and no lift is an issue when you have luggage. Eventually I found a lane way which brought me to the first floor entrance from the back of the hotel. Checkin was good, free... More

Great location to the lurcerne train station, fantastic views of the lake and famous Chapel Bridge. Staff extremely friendly, very helpful. Great size room, updated bathroom, great breakfast and 10percent discount for meals at the Restaurant at all times. Well greeted upon arrival with a booklet of city map. Easy access from the shops and lake water front. Wifi (free)... More

Great location, excellent service! It's right on the river, next to Kapellbrücke. The restaurant was good, a bit pricey, we had dinner on the balcony, and it was worth the 15-minute wait for the table. The reception staff was very welcoming and accommodating. I would definitely consider Hotel des Alpes for my next trip to Lucerne.
