The Best Western Rothaus is an easy 15-20 minute walk from the Luzern Rail Station. Pick up a city map at the Tourist Office to get started, then follow the Brown Hotel signs to the hotel. The lady at the reception desk was great when I arrived at 1000am, she took my bags as it was too early to checkin... more

This hotel is OK, but not great. The rooms are very dated (i.e. carpet on the walls and fixtures straight out the 70's) but the beds comfortable and sheets clean. If you're at all precious about your hotels, then this place isn't for you. We've stayed at many 3 star hotels and the dated feel detracts from this place when... more

Our experience reflects what other reviewers have said: 1. The location is good – a quiet location just a few minutes walk from the Chapel Bridge and the old town. 2. The reception desk staff is often not present (I think they are understaffed, and staff covers the desk, maintenance, and some functions within the restaurant). So you should be... more

Had been traveling by train without reservations and found this to be the last place in town to get two rooms in our price range. It was an 15 minute walk from the train station pulling our luggage. Front desk not much help in planning our stay and was dismayed at the small size of the room and bathroom. Found... more

I stayed for one night in room 240 which turned out to be on the (quiet) back side of the hotel. The view is on to a back yard facing the top floor of a small building. It was quite bright though. The renovated room was on the small side, the door opening to the bed directly. There was a... more

Rothaus may be a good option if you get a good deal as I got from hotelclub website. The location is good, just 10 mins walk from the main train station and 4-5 mins to the chapel bridge. The rooms are average size but we got a very small one at the end on the second floor (236 - avoid... more

Considering the average size of European rooms, the Best Western had very nice sized rooms but the bathrooms were a bit old. The hotel was conveniently located in a quiet area of Lucerne and was very close to Downtown and Mt. Pilatus (absolutely recommend to do). The hotel had an elevator and the food wasn't bad. more

Had single room at front of the hotel. Awful noise in to the night from pub opposite. Room, small, functional, dark, dingy. Virtually no help or interaction from staff - even when I left! Easy walk to the famous bridge, but I had to work it out for myself Probably the worst of about 15 hotel stays in Switzerland more
