Love everything about this place. Very cozy, and the staffs were all very friendly and helpful. Room was just as I imagined a ski chalet would be, comfortable, warm, and charming. We tried the cheese fondue restaurant and it was great!

Clean, charming, friendly staff... Great stay Private parking place (payable) Too bad there was no sauna in the hotel When you come for a ski-vacation, you always have to take the ski-bus or your own car... far away from the lifts

Pleasant but unassuming exterior masks a delightful little hotel in Engelberg: traditional wooden finishes, warm and friendly welcome, and a restaurant that makes some of the best cheese fondue I've had. Small, cosy bar is perfect for a drink before dinner, and there are several other bars and restaurants a short stroll from the Alpenclub; rooms have decent space, and... More

This place is better known for its restaurant (nice but noisy), and only has about 10 rooms (or less). First, and important fact: the jacuzzi that is displaced on its website is NOT available to guests, as it is part of the pne and pnly suite in the hotel. Quite a disappointment for our group of freidms, who oicked the... More

Absolutely gorgeous little hotel with rustic feel yet with all modern amenities. Very cosy rooms with lovely small bathrooms and free gourmet coffee. Great fireplace area in lobby, perfect for hot drinks after a day in the snow. Very good restaurant both for dinner and breakfast, and the kindest and most friendly staff. Not cheap but good value. Would go... More

We stayed in Alpenclub in September 2011 for 3 nights in the Steinburg room. For those who love the rustic feel and look, this is the dream hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The next time we visit Switzerland without a doubt we shall be staying in this hotel. We really enjoyed... More

We stayed in Alpen Club with my 7 year old daughter for few nights. We loved it. Recently modernized small chalet with just few rooms, good combination of old and modern styles. Downstairs cozy lobby bar with ultra-modern fireplace, just a killer after day in slopes enjoying your gluhwein to warm up and ice tea to chill out. And play... More

The hotel is conveniently located in the centre of the small village and not far from the slopes. The booking via email was easy and Karin was both responsive and extremely helpful. The same can be said for the rest of the staff. The hotel has ultra-modern amenities in a traditional chalet setting.

We stayed for 4 nights in late August. We booked the steinberg room which was on the top floor. The Room was spacious although there was just one chair. They gave us a baby cot for our one year old. The Breakfast was good. We ordered room service for dinner on two occasions and that was very good as well.... More

We stayed for a week at the Alpenclub with another couple in March 2009 for some downhill skiing and, above all, snowboarding. Everything went well with the hotel from the start; quick responses to emails, and we were also allowed to change one of the rooms from a suite to a regular double etc. We were also given weather reports... Bar / Lounge Restaurant Suites
Official Description (provided by the hotel)
According to the real estate register of Engelberg the present building was errected in 1780 and in 1875 it was turned into a restaurant. After several restaurations and extensions the Alpenclub changed from a restaurant with just 6 tables to its present form. To keep a piece of past, grown landlord's tradition, to maintain mountain inn atmosphere and warmth is our goal. We want to preserve the cosy hospitality in the rooms of the Alpenclub, while the added hotel part, in the rustical style, emits a casual sporty ambiance. The alpine character of our house you will experience in our rooms and suites as well. We took great care in redecorating the 8 rooms to make your stay unforgettable. You have the choice between four categories: Standard rooms, Steinberg room, Titlis suite and the Rotegg room. ... more   less
