Just arrived back from Geneva. We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The room we got was extremly smelly, small, worn out, in a desperate need of renovation. Very handy for station and just 5-10 minutes from the lake. Decor a bit faded, but room very spacious and reasonably comfortable - could do with air con but the room could be sufficiently cooled by opening the window. Helpful staff. Yes, it's expensive for a bottom of the range city centre hotel but very good value overall by Geneva... more

I would absolutely not recommend this hotel. I saw a bedbug the first night of my stay and even though I switched hotel I managed to bring them back home with me where we are now trying to deal with the problem (not easy!). more

We recently stayed for 2 nights. We booked (£165 per night) becaue of its location and name 'Moderne'. But, this hotel needs major refurbishment. Room carpet is very dirty and you need to always wear your own slipper. Walls are without paint or wallpaper. The only really valuable thing of this hotel is the very gentle and professional staff. For ther rest, despite Geneva being an expensive city, I felt quite ripped off in having to pay 155CHF for a single room. My husband stayed at the Hotel Moderne in a trip to Geneva a while ago. I suppose my standards must be lower than others who have reivewed it, because I didn't have any real problems with this hotel. The only reason to stay in this hotel is to save a few Francs... don't expect much else, like clean linens. The hotel is located 3 mins walk from the bus/train station which also makes it extremely convenient. It is also walking distance to the old town, lake and the red right district.
