this hotel is TERRIBLE. if you have a choice, go elsewhere. the weather was hot and there was no air conditioning. just a really noisy old fan for our room (which made little difference). we got very little sleep. because of the "central" location, we could not open the window because of the noise from the street. it really is... more

We spent only one night here as there was no vacancy at the nearby Admiral Hotel. The rooms need renovating, we were on the 5th floor and the room was very warm, no air-cond. or fans. Windows could be opened but you are then disturbed by the noise from the bar below that is open to 2.00 am. It is... more

This hotel is only minutes from the station and minutes from the Lake. Be careful as Rue de Berne on the other side of Rue des Alpes is the red light district! The rooms that we saw were newly decorated and furnished. This was to a very high standard. The rooms and bedding are kept immaculately clean. The reception staff... more

I needed a centrally located hotel in Geneva at an affordable price. My first choice was Capitole and I got more than I bargained for: brilliant location, nicely furnished room with a window to a street with lots of cafes but hardly any traffic, competent staff at the Reception and a very thorough job done by the housekeeping team. The... more

Good for a short stay. Very convenient to transport, including the train to the airport and the UN headquarters. Easy walk to most other main sights and the lake. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar attached to the hotel is very lively and funky. The hotel is on the better side of Rue de Alpes (western side).... more

This is a conveniently located hotel. It is very close to main train station, easy walking distance to shopping districts, large rooms but hotel needs urgently a complete new decoration. The room carpet and furnitures are very old indeed and smelly. The sound proof of the room is terrible, you can hear everything from next room without leaving anything behind!! So if your... more

My boyfriend and I spent a night in the Capitole in October and we were pleased with it. The room was spacious and clean, the area well-located (people complaining about the red light district should open their minds a little - you don't HAVE to hire a hooker) and the guy on reception was really friendly. It's just a stone's... more

We stayed for two nights at a room on the first floor. The room was well furnished but that is the only positive point during our stay. The room was poorly litted and the noise from the bar downstairs was simply horrible up till they close at around 2 am. The bathroom was old and badly equipped. Sink got blocked... more

I spent three weeks travelling around Europe, and this was by far the most unpleasant hotel of my trip. I had no intentions of going to Switzerland, but my boyfriend and I were driving through France and it was so close that we figured we might as well. We picked up a Geneva guidebook at a gas station on the... more

We had booked for two nights 8th and 9th December 2006 but left after the first night. We were put in a first floor room which was tiny, smelt strongly of smoke and was very poorly lit. There is a nightclub downstairs connected to the hotel and the noise level of the music made the room vibrate, it was impossible... more
