Stayed at Hotel National for one night this week. Found it to be better than expected. Clean, friendly staff, perfectly located, reasonably good value for money by Swiss standards. Room was a little small, and a little noisy with the balcony door open. Wouldn't have been a problem but for the lack of air con or fan. Wifi pretty good.... More

This was a really nice hotel in a good location 5 minutes from the train station. The room we had was large, the shower was powerful and there was always plenty of hot water. Unfortunatly though we were on the first floor at the front and the noise from the trams was very loud, they didn't stop till late at... More

My boyfriend and I were on a driving holiday of Switzerland and stayed one night in Bern. The hotel itself is interesting - the lift is very old however the rooms are quite tired. We were lucky and got a room higher up with a small balcony. The bathroom was really not very nice, tiny shower, tiny sink, tiny toilet... More

This establishment is centrally placed on a main street but, despite some noise from passing trams, the double glazing meant a quiet night. Reception is on the first floor but there is a cramped lift serving all levels. The rooms are small and somewhat spartanly furnished but adequate. Breakfast is served on the ground floor, buffet style and relatively comprehensive.... More

This hotel is in a great location, minutes from the train station and walking distance of everything that you would want to see in Bern. Rooms are clean and basic, walls are thin (we had very noisy neighbors). Breakfast is very large and tasty. What stood out to me was the great service! We had a snafu with our train... More

I stayed in the National for two nights as I was conducting a workshop nearby. The hotel has not parking but there's parking two blocks away (pay attention this can be a costly experience). Entering the hotel was a first surprise. The elevator was really antique but newly renovated. You feel like in an old movie when you close the... More

Located about a 5 min walk from the train station and about 15 mins into the centre of the old town. The hotel has a fairly old feel to it, however the room was surprisingly large, relatively comfortable (noise aside) and had tv and free wifi. I was on the 5th level and the lift only goes to level 4... More

This is a good hotel, five minute walk from the train station and central to many sites. I am a light sleeper and was granted a quiet room location on the third floor facing a courtyard. By Swiss standards the room was large and the price was excellent compared to hotels in other large Swiss cities. WiFi worked fine and... More

The National Hotel Bern, is a 5 minute walk with luggage from the train station, and a 10 minute walk to the clock tower. This hotel was central to what we needed to do in 'old, central' Bern. We stayed in room 501, right on the top floor. The elevator only goes to the 4th floor, you have to walk... More

This friendly hotel is located in walking distance to the main railway station and the famous old town of Berne, Switzerland. However, the friendly staff cannot make up for the fact that this is a rather poor hotel in relation to guest rooms (I've stayed in a regular double room) and breakfast. Therefore, the price/performance ratio is limited. My double... More
