I've been in this hotel because all Basel hotel was fully booked. The hotel is at 30 minutes away from Basel, in th countryside. The room are small but nice and the staff is very nice and welcoming. Breakfast is served in a nice room with a great view on the garden. It's a nice option to relax from Basel.

I have now spent three weeks at this hotel and like it very much. It is in a beautiful setting and really peaceful. The staff is attentive to all your needs and more than accommodating. The food is wonderful, but plan to pack on a few kilos if you are there for more than a night. Highly recommend this location... More

Terrible hotel- picture The Shining but preserved in time. Where do I begin, totally outdated hotel rooms- looks like a retirement home and the beds are so worn I can feel the imprint of the last occupant. There is actually no bar which must be a first for a hotel in the developed world! The staff really just want you... More

Stayed for a few days for a work conference. The hotel is in a beautiful setting, very peaceful. The conference facilities are good, the food is good and the staff are very friendly. There is free wifi throughout the hotel which has very good download speeds. The only thing that lets this place down are the rooms. For a hotel... More

My wife and I stayed here as part of seminar we were conducting. While the sleeping rooms are fairly basic the staff was outstanding both prior to the program and during the time we were in attendance. The meeting rooms and food were first rate and is a place I would go back to again. While their is no fitness... More

This hotel is a nice, classical hotel close to Basel (about 20-30mins by car). When you enter Liestal you need to take a road to Bad Schauenburg, which is up in the hills, a bit like the end of civilization. But it's worth it - the rooms are rather basic, restaurant serves good classical Swiss food. Seminar facilities are very... More

A beautiful old Swiss hotel, with modern facilities and excellent food. We had a week of business meetings, the location is calm and very pretty and the service second to none. It lacks a gym ( with food this good you need one!) but a super place to relax!

I had a chance to stay at the hotel for 1 night only for a business meeting. The overall experience was very good. Hotel is not too far away from Basel - just enough away to be out of office and still in close proximity of home. Had a chance to use the rooms, restaurants and meeting rooms - all... More

My wife and I stayed for a total of 8 nights in September/early October 2012. We have stayed here before and were welcomed back as if part of the family. We were visiting friends in the area of Basel and consider Bad Schauenburg to be perfect for our needs, even though the drive to and from presents certain challenges. The... More

Stayed here for 4 nights in June. The hotel is located in a quiet spot near the hills and amongst farmland, making it a perfect place for a quiet retreat (private or corporate), hence also difficult to get to if you are without a car, but the hotel is able to make arrangements with the local taxis to pick you...
