We stayed here over the August bank holiday for 3 nights. The hotel is very central on tram line 3. Within easy walking distance to the centre and about 20 minutes to the rail station although there are plenty of trams going there too. We were given a room at the top of the building which we had specifically requested,... More

This hotel is ideally situated within walking distance of the city centre. The No.3 trams stops right outside. If arriving by train at Basle get the No.11 ti Aschenplatz, one stop, and change there for the number 3. The rooms are sparsely furnished, but clean as is the bed and linen. There are only net curtains at the windows but... More

When booking, we reserved 2 rooms, since we would be 2 adults and 2 kids (7 & 8 y). Once arrived, the hotel could not give 2 rooms in the same building. The receptionist spontaneously offered us a larger room, where all 4 of us could sleep, and only charged 1 regular room. We had a fabulous diner at the... More

My 3 week stay in Basel during Feb was thoroughly enjoyable thanks to Teufelhof. The staff was very warm and friendly, happy to help anytime. I looked forward to breakfast each day so I could chat with the staff who became friends. The location is fantastic. Just a 3 min walk to Barfi tram stop, where all the action is.... More

This hotel is located in the old town, near many of the important attractions of Basel. It is near several tram lines, to allow for easy access to the museums and other attractions. Our rooms were amazingly spacious and well-appointed. A nice touch was the Nespresso machine, bottled water (still and sparkling) and the included breakfast. Combined with great service... More

Interesting 'Art' hotel in the old town part of Basel, close to many restaurants and boutique shops. Within walking district of the key areas of the city and the river Rhine. On a tram route (no 3) but to get to most of the other key tram routes you have to walk about 1/4 mile. Good news is that hotels... More

Its hard to know where to start. Standard check out is 12pm (this is guge for a European 3 star) .. on the weekends you can grab breakfast til 13:00. Every guest gets free public transport tickets in the city for the duration of the stay ... location is as central as it gets but the rooms are quiet, look... More

Rambling ancient building on a delightful ancient street. Bar also with outside seating. Hotel restaurant with outside courtyard seating -I phd not sample the food. Separate gourmet restaurant. Creaky wooden floors ( which I like) - very pleasant all white bedroom with wide opening windows onto the quiet street. Power at the trestle style desk which may seem obvious but... More

This was a nice change of pace through Switzerland. This hotel had a personality. Reception provided us with a warm welcome. Water and fruit. Our room was on the large size so we must have been in the newer part of the property. It had a elevator. The only thing I didn't like about this hotel was that you could... More

Located in the nicest part of Basel close to bars, restaurants and museums. The staff were a stand out, all very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. The Atelier restaurant served excellent cuisine although a short menu. The wine list is the same as that for Bel Etage (which closes for a month in summer!),... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Der Teufelhof Basel, situated in the old town, with all sights and museums within walking distance or easy to reach by public transport, is a unique hotel experience with 33 stylish rooms. The hotel is classified as design and lifestyle as well as unique hotel. The rooms are either in the historic building, we call Art hotel, or in the more modern part in the Gallery Hotel. The Art Hotel has eight rooms and a suite. Each of them is made a work of art to live in. Especially business people who travel a lot enjoy staying in rooms which are not like the hotel rooms they know from their visits throughout the world. The Gallery Hotel's rooms and halls are a large exhibition area for one artist who can present his works for a particular period. We have chosen three designers for the rooms' furniture. The Gallery Hotel has twenty rooms, each different in size, three suites and a junior suite. The hotel comprises further the restaurant Atelier, the fine dining restaurant Bel Etage, the Teufelhof Bar, the wine shop «Falstaff», an own theater and the archaeological cellar. ... more   less
