We selected this hotel, called the St. Gotthard at the time, because of its proximity to the railroad station. We were coming into the Basel-Mulhouse Airport and returning to the airport a couple of days later to rent a car so thought the location would be convenient. Normally I don't think of hotels by the train station being that nice... More

I have been in this Hotel many times for business trip since 2000. I came back again last September 2015 and I was pleasantly surprised with renovations they have made. Rooms are renovated in a nice way. Hotel preserved the Swiss tradition of its dinning room. Hotel staff is so kind and they make you feel like at home. I... More

Hotel is located right opposite to SBB. Good connectivity to the city, restaurants and offices. Free mobility pass was very useful. Mini bar with free water bottle /juices and wine and oven is available.

got room 375 , service and location are good , but when you look overall the price to the room is to expensive for this hotel. Rooms are clean and comfort is ok. , breakfast is good and people are service oriented.

Stayed here 3 nights after a river cruise. Basel is an expensive city to visit. We booked a double room that included an organic buffet breakfast and a mini-bar (1 beer,2 water, 2 juice and a cola) hat is restocked every second day. The room we had was on the 4th floor, it had windows that let in plenty of... More

The breakfast buffet has an excellent selection for all tastes and rooms are beautifully kept with excellent wireless services and workspace. Located close to the main railway station and airport... We enjoyed our stay at St Gotthard Basel very much. Service was most warm and friendly. Room was clean and roomy. We appreciate the installed motion-sensitive lights. An obvious green effort which we liked. We particularly enjoyed the close proximity to Basel Central Train Station (less than 5 mins walk just across the road). We were able to take trams... More

I have stayed here three times in the last 10 years and found it to be consistently fine in every area that measures excellence. On one occasion I was introduced to the owner, invited to tea, and had a marvelous conversation. Every member of the staff is outgoing, kind, and concerned for the well being of the guest.

We have stayed here for the past 5 years and initially was alarmed to see that the hotel was being re-named. Fortunately, apart from the layout of the breakfast area (which was better before), the food, service and staff were the same and good. The hotel is ideally located for tram use - and Federer did not disappoint!

A somewhat unnecessary name change to Gaia may throw you on approaching this hotel as the outside has been rebranded (but not yet the inside!). That aside - it's lovely. Good breakfast, good clean rooms, super friendly staff. Very convenient location. Highly recommended and I will return.
