Centrally located near the main Bahnhof in a nice area, my accommodation consisted of a clean, pleasant and basically (but adequately) furnished room in a fine old house. The house needed refurbishment but retained some lovely features (etched glass, sweeping staircase etc.). Bathroom was clean and was shared with 2 other rooms.
Transcom is not a conventional hotel but appears to be a number of well located houses where individual rooms are rented out inexpensively (compared to other accommodation in Basel)
