First time staying in a castle- it's amazing. An experience not to be missed. a little away (only 15mins drive) from Perugia city but it's worth the travelling. Great place and rooms, the castle itself is worth exploring. The outdoor pool is also a delight in the morning. You will not forget the view you see from the castle.

This hotel was amazing! The castle and grounds are gorgeous and wonderfully restored so that it looks authentic but also pristine, with all the modern conveniences. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, with a patio and table for most of them. The amenities were high quality right down to the fluffy robes, with everything one could need. The cloisters... There is no doubt that the castle is fantastically located with "to die for" views. The building has been sympathetically modernised and the rooms are spotless and well appointed with little touches that make it a very interesting place to visit. The staff are friendly and helpful however the hotel does lack something of an atmosphere particularly in the dining... More

Dear Eleanor-7, thanks for staying with us, for you review and for sharing your compliments to the castle and the staff on Tripadvisor. We feel sorry if we miss the importance of your special occasion in some way. The restaurant has been conceived to be different from the medieval interiors of the castle (considering that the restaurant area is a... More

This hotel was just the best. Fantastic rooms in a great castle and great views over Perugia. The personal was very helpful. Every evening we dined at the restaurant. The pool and the sauna are fantastic. If in Perugia we will definitely return.

We stayed at Castello di Monterone for just one night. .. our wedding anniversary present to ourselves. The castle is as close to a vision of a fairytale with turrets and castellated roof terraces as you can get. We wandered through the hotel and out onto the roof to admire the wonderful views. Inside we loved seeing gorgeous old furniture... More

Castello di Monterone combines an ancient Umbrian castle in a picturesque location with updated modern amenities. The staff is incredibly helpful yet not intrusive. The onsite restaurant provides authentic Umbrian dishes and ingredients with modern flair and outstanding, friendly service. The location is convenient to other Umbrian locations as well as Perugia.

My partner and I stayed her for two nights as part of a trip through Tuscany and Umbria. We both loved this hotel and would throughly recommend that you include as part of your itinerary. It's a great 4 star experience for location, hotel amenities and service. We paid Euro 190 per night for B&B, and this was excellent value... More

This place is fabulous. A beautiful castle outside Perugia with a nice garden and bringing you back to the middle age. Good service, good food, beautiful surroundings. Worth its price. Just remember to ask for a room with a view. Even some of the superior rooms are small and without view, but if you got the view, it is marvellous.

Dear Runar N, your review is precious. Thanks for appreciating the atmosphere and for sharing the feeling you had of going back to the middle age. The surrounding gardens and countryside bring some romantic taste to the medieval atmosphere, so, we agree with you: the view makes it very special. Francesco More

We had mixed feelings about this place. It is old and has some neat architecture, beautiful gardens and spectacular views of the countryside. Those are the plusses. But you need to look at the photos to see why we were not so happy. Perhaps we are simply too picky. The bedroom was somewhat small and there were minimal places to... More

My husband and I spent three glorious nights at the Castello di Monterone. Our room, which had a fairytale view of the Umbrian countryside, was spotlessly clean, well appointed, and very unique.
