I got a very good deal on this hotel through a website specialising in hostels. This, and some of the reviews on tripadvisor, meant that my expectations were pretty low and I was expecting something quite grim. I was therefore amazed to discover Iris is a beautiful, historic building. The phrase 'faded glory' is used on this website. In fact,... More

This is a good hotel that has an air of "faded glory" about it. While the rooms are comfortable, and the price is more than reasonable, there is still a feeling of shabby chic about the place. the location is good, right at the bottom of the city of Perugia.

Lovely old building. I (middle-aged, single woman) stayed here four nights and had no problem with noise. Room was clean and comfortable. Hotel is close to the medieval city center and the bus depo. Perugia is a great place to stay while exploring other towns in the area. I visited in January - beautiful area in winter.

We stayed only one night, the Hotel is very beautiful and very nearby the center. We were unlucky with the room, we stayed in the end of the corridor and our room was big and hot water worked very well, but the heater was not working, so it was reeeealy cold. The staff wasn´t that friendly.

This is perfect for a short break or a weekend in lovely Perugia. Located strategically near the escalator, the Iris hotel has good-size rooms, great showers, the staff are really nice and helpful. Check out is at 11 and reception is closed between midnight and 8 am, but apart from that the rest is absolutely good. A bus takes you... More

Hotel is housed in a beautiful old mansion. Location is just outside the old city , at the bottom of the escalators, near the bus station. The building is nice but rooms need to be refurbished, so does the lobby and hallway. Receptionist is helpful with advice on daytrips and transport. Also with restaurant recommendation and bookings. bedsheets are nice... More

Absolutely great location: a minute's walk from the bus station, and less than a minute's walk from the underground escalator that takes you to the town center. The old stone building keeps you relatively cool even in the hottest of summer days, even without the air conditioner. Safety is not an issue, as even on the ground floor, we slept... More

A fantastic building but in need of some TLC. Friendly and helpful staff. It is 2 star so don't expect the world. Escalators close by to get you up the hill into the city but you still need to be mobile. I preferred it to a bland travel inn type room. Breakfast is a bit simple and dull. Very clean.

It's a bit of a hike to the main town, but the route takes you through the city's underground tunnels, which is a fun way to start and end each day. The hotel itself is beautiful and historic. Much of Italy is beautiful and historic, but Hotel Iris really makes you feel as though your on the set of a... More
