The castle is set in a beautiful park and is very impressive as you drive up. This is a special, special property. Be prepared to get lost in finding this place but the hotel provided the absolute best and most detailed map of the area. We stayed in one of the tower rooms which was quite small in comparison but is cosy/romantic with a beautiful view of the countryside and a very large private deck. Didn't mind the size at all, but we're not exactly giants ourselves. Rooms (we checked out 2 others) are a little frayed around the edges but it adds to the ancestory feel of the castle. Bathrooms are basic, low waterpressure, runs hot and cold, nice toiletries. Common rooms are varied and also show a bit of wear.
Dinner was perfect, not too expensive, great Umbrian wine list. I would recommend the restaurant even if you weren't staying at the castle. Service was excellent, all staff spoke fine english and made every effort to meet our high maintenance requests. No charge for... more
