My wife and I stayed at this castle over new years eve and had an amazing time. The castle is ideal for a couple wishing to stay away from the city and relax in the charming countryside. The rooms are old, however they have updated furniture - a bit of old world charm. We typically stayed by the fireplace reading... more

This "castello" isn't, of course, an historic castle at all, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that its old world charm is slightly 'borrowed'. I liked it a lot just the same. Maybe we were lucky that our rooms were airy and the bathrooms large. Yes, the furniture is on the grandma side, but it's in keeping with the surroundings. We... more

We stayed here for our wedding night and it was not as romantic as we had hoped. We had a suite, which was big and had a spacious en-suite bathroom. Everything was clean but it lacked the charm that were looking for. The furniture was a bit of a mish-mash, some antique looking pieces mixed with furniture from the 1970’s.... more

After great stays at hotels throughout Tuscany and Umbria, we were unfortunate enough to have reserved rooms at Castella dell'Oscano. Simply stated, this was the worst hotel experience we have ever had. While the castle was most certainly magnificient in its day, we found the hotel that now occupies the space drab, dirty and very unimpressive. Our room was noisy... more

We stayed at this wonderful property in July and it was a magical experience. The room was large with antique furniture and yes although the bathroom was small with a small shower, you've got to take into consideration the age of the building where it might not be that easy to install large bathrooms. The room was huge though with... more

We spent three nights- one in the villa and the other two in the castle. The setting is very quiet and lovely, but we were disappointed with our room in the castle- Falstaff, on the main floor. The bathroom was not adequate- you could barely turn around in the tiny shower and there was no place to put soap or... more

Stayed 3 nights in Villa Ada. Booked through Expedia. First offered room 407, which must be the worst room in the hotel (small, poor layout, impossibly small bathroom and no view of the valley). Only after making a fuss were we given a larger room ( 404 ). All the rooms we saw were in need of re-furbishment and all... more

Stayed there 3 nights in July during Umbria Jazz fest. The space was beautiful, peaceful, beautiful well kept grounds, rooms spacious and nicely appointed with antique furnishings. The staff was very pleasant. It was not cheap (around 600 euros a night). The space was great. The restaurant was really a let down. You can email me for the details if... more

Stayed 3 nights with my parents as a Christmas present: WOW! As soon as we approached the Castle through the park it looked like entering another world. The magic of the stay in the Castle was enhanced by the attentive but never intrusive staff. Had dinner there two nights in a row and again even in the restaurant the service... more

Although rather hard to find, this wonderful castle is well worth the effort. It rises up above the verdant Umbrian countryside, somewhat imposing yet undeniably romantic. Inside it somewhat resembles an English country house, good antique furniture well lived in and quietly elegant. The library is exquisite and replete with old books and manuscripts. This May was my second stay there... more
