Assisi is one of the most visited towns in the Umbria area. It is a holy town because everything is based on the Basilica of St Francis. The town is built on a hill and the Basilica is at the very top. Beautiful views of the country side and town and all that's Assisi. But unless you are a hiker... More

I travelled to Assisi as part of a pilgrimage group in mid-September, 2014. I found the Hotel Giotto to be excellent. We did have to walk up from the bus parking lot, but so did everyone else who stayed at a hotel in medieval Assisi, which has narrow streets not built for cars or buses. We had a corner room,... The one positive thing I can say about this hotel is that it has a wonderful view from all points. We stayed there as part of a tour group. As mentioned in other reviews, the bus is not allowed to go to the hotel, so they leave you at the bottom of a very steep hill and you have to... More

Our tour bus was required to park in the bus lot below, and our large tour group, including several older people with physical disabilities, walked up a steep hill which took about 15 minutes for some, and almost an hour for others. Ironically, the hotel sent minivans down to fetch the luggage, but none of the people. Not all floors... More

We stayed at this lovely spa hotel in the most wonderful town of Assisi. The hotel caters to tour groups and manages that well, providing porter service and nice meals. We could open our windows and hear and see the bells from St Francis' Cathedral. But ... there was little room for 2 suitcases in the room, no lift to... More

This hotel is excellent due to its staff, scenery, verandas and location. The breakfasts are great too, especially when the weather allows eating outside, on the terrace so you can enjoy the scenery. The staff was really helpful, especially a young chap with excellent English skills (he actually looked English) who provided us with afternoon cakes and coffee on the... More

We stayed here in May as part of a tour. Our room was very nice, clean, good sized with a great view of the valley and the lower parts of the town. Our tour bus could not get to the hotel as the streets were too narrow and steep. The walk up was worth it. Our dinner was very good,... More

Clean room, comfortable, quiet. Great views from the patio! Loved walking around Assisi from here. Food good at dinner, but breakfast fair. Dining from very cozy. Staff friendly and helpful. We were here with a tour group and we were well received!

Rooms are all ready for re-modeling, in august hotel was almost empty, there was just very few guests. Breakfast was really very basic. Dinner was mush better but again there was no staff. In general hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Don't expect anything special just basic accommodation. P.S. Assissi is very beautiful hilltop town, walk and explore, amazing.

Hotel Giotto has an enviable position and fine service. There are many good restaurants nearby as well as the dining in the hotel. The one drawback is somewhat tired carpeting and furnishings; however, it is clean and very pleasant and well-priced. Breakfast is fabulous with a large sample of offerings. I would stay here again.
