Where else does the owner say "welcome home" when you check in? OK, this was my 6th year staying at this wonderful hotel. They always save the room at the top of the stairs for me - tremendous view of Santa Chiara from the bedroom window and San Rufino and the Rocco from the balcony. The staff, the physical comforts,... more

My trip to Assisi in July was a time of spiritual awakening and personal growth. The staff at the Hotel Sole were kind and helpful. The meals were excellent. The town, filled with historic churches and hidden chapels is a joyful place and beautiful to the eye. Buildings and streets of pink stone lead up to a central plaza where... more

It's hard to imagine a better location in Assisi, just steps from the Piazza Commune and away from the Basillica, though still within easy walking distance. The rooms here are large, the bathrooms functional (though in our room the shower drained directly onto the floor) and there was a good breakfast served by amiable staff. In the annex, across the... more

I really enjoyed this hotel as a great change of pace. The family that runs it is a hoot....not a lot of English spoken, but we got by just fine. We were in a room that was across the street. In response to an earlier question, it does have a very small elevator. Our room was very large. The beds... more

Does the Hotel Sole have a lift? One poster implies that it does while others say that it does not. The hotel's website says it does have a lift. Thanks very much! more

This hotel is just about a block off the central square and also fairly convenient for parking. We arrived in town about 7 pm, without a reservation, and with a wheelchair. Hotel Sole was cited in Frommer's guide for having an accessible room, so we hunted it down. Although that room was already taken, the innkeeper, who seems exceptionally dedicated... more

I loved this hotel so much. I stayed here for one night with my friends as part of a tour, and I couldn't have been more pleased. The hotel was laid out nicely, and our room was wonderful. There were three of us, and it was huge. Two of the beds were next to each other in the main room,... more

Assisi is a wonderful city to visit, and Hotel Sole was fortunately open in the off-season for our honeymoon. We really enjoyed our stay here, it was very conveniently located off the Piazza Comune in the center of the city, so it was an easy walk to St. Francis Basilica and right down the street from St. Clara. There are... more

first we adored Assisi, so going there is a must. The Hotel Sole was wonderful. Located just a block or 2 off the main piazza in the walled city. We had a nice new looking room, spacious, in a funny wedge shape building with a window overlooking a tiny street. It was a tad bit noisy at night for awhile,... more
