We booked a room in December 2007 for a one night stay in April 2008. This hotel is a must -- if you can affort it. It is a little pricey, but worth it. There is just a lovely patio and each room has a small patio overlooking the valley. The Subasio is located with a beautiful view,but the older hotel does need to be reburbished. Some larger rooms are okay according to others. The main thing we did not like were our beds-more like camp cots. Right there in walking distance of the Basicilia of St. Francis. more

If you aren't lucky enough to get a room with a view and end up with one looking onto the street leading to the basilica then you are in for a horrible time. My room was cramped, gloomy and did not appear to have been updated since around 1950. The bathroom had hairs over the floor and in the bidet.... more
