I have stayed at this hotel 3 times. First, as a single traveler. Later when bringing parents to Italy. And now traveling with my wife and young children. I have found it to be a very good hotel on all three occasions. First of all, it's quiet. No hustle, no bustle, no noise. The staff are very pleasant. The restaurant... More

While driving through Italy this week we made a stop at this hotel. We were a family of four. The hotel is located very close to all the attractions, it is in the middle of the medieval city. Our room had a loft with a twin bed and a queen bed, there was also a queen bed on the main... More

My wife and I stayed at the Fontebella while on a group tour. Beautiful hotel, country side. The hotel is a long walk uphill to reach. The bus can not navigate the super tight streets. The hotel is small, but has several floors of the tiniest rooms I have ever seen. The room had 2 twin beds and not enough... More

Excellent hotel. We had a couple and two children. Certain rooms will accommodate (4) people. These rooms have (2) levels in the room with a staircase inside the room. It could have slept 5 comfortably. Twin and double upstairs, two twins, slid together, downstairs. Great location, in the middle of town. AC worked well. Every room looks over the countryside... This place really needs renovating. It is a tired and rundown hotel, with poorly serviced rooms, old furniture that needs replacing and awful bathrooms. There is a certain "slack-ness" with the staff who can't be bothered about much except making sure you pay your bill, and will over charge you if they can. The breakfast was also disappointing and wasn't... More

Good hotel with nice rooms. I was in the quadruple family room and it is perfect althought there is only one bathroom for all these beds. Reception is glad to help you and the hotel is closely located to all historical sites in Assisi. They have a parking but it is 10 euros per day.

Pictures online are deceiving. Fontebella is much more beautiful. Rooms nice, bed and linens comfy, and views were outstanding. Didn't much care for the hike up the hill. Transit bus system not so good. Bring inhalers if you have trouble breathing. Room temperature was very comfortable. Best of all breakfast!!! Fabulous cakes made with cherries and apples! Meat, rolls, eggs,... More

The customer service was fantastic! Arrived very tired at this hotel and Andrea (the front desk person) welcomed us and showed us 3 rooms to chose from. He went above and beyond to accommodate us. Very conveniently located(near St. Francis basilica) breakfast is excellent, even the breakfast staff accommodated us when we arrived late. We were very happy with this... More

A lovely hotel with very friendly staff within a short walk of the Basilica of St. Francis. We were upgraded to a room with an incredible view of the valley. Convenient parking right across the street. A cozy bar & an elegant dining room where we enjoyed a romantic dinner. Very nice breakfast selection.

My wife and I found Hotel Fontebella quite by mistake when the GPS took us to Assisi instead of the FONTANABELLA in Perugia. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay and enjoy this walled city. Martin was the perfect gentleman, also our waiter for the best meal and wine. Our room overlooked the western wall and the sunset... More
