Wonderful hotel we had a beautiful room with a balcony I would return. The hosts were gracious. I had submitted an earlier online review in error that referenced another hotel which had small rooms. Thank you for letting me share this update. T Burch

We arrived by taxi from the railway station, which dropped us almost at the door. We had room 34 on the first floor which had windows on 3 sides and a small balcony overlooking the valley - a beautiful view. It took a long time for the water to run through, but that wasn't too much of a problem for... More

A delightful stay. Centrally located just off the main square, a helpful, friendly staff and the best view from a hotel window we have ever had! (Ask for room 34!) Lots of old fashioned charm, and a good breakfast!

Truly a gem. Spared from the possible noise of the city hall square, yet 5 steps from it, the Umbra has there main characteristics: - several tiny living rooms, one Leaves-roofed terrace with a view, one spectacular sun terrace with a view (and WiFi); - antique, charming furnitures and old maps on the walls; - charming rooms, with different sizes... The staff at this hotel is one of the most helpful I've seen in Italy. This was our second visit to Assisi and we knew that coming in via rail it was crucial on how we went from the train station to the hotel, since Assisi is on a hillside with narrow streets. The staff conversed with us by e-mail... More

I'm a tour coordinator and escort. This year, 2014, in November, the group I was escorting stayed at the Hotel Umbra. It's the second time I've had a group stay there. I cannot say enough about the gentility, friendliness, concern for guest's comfort, and hospitality you will find at the Umbra. This small, family owned and run boutique hotel is... More

My wife and I stayed in this hotel from October 31 to Nov 3, 2014. The people at the desk and every other employee we encountered were incredibly friendly, warm and helpful. Our room had a small balcony with an awesome view out over the Spoleto valley - we could sit in the sun and enjoy a glass of wine... More

We stayed here for a night as part of our tour of Italy. The hotel situated just off the Piazza del Comune. It is a short walk to the Basilica and about 10 minutes walk up to the Rocca Maggiore fortress on the hill above the town. Our room was large with antique furniture and very comfortable. It did not... More

Our family of 4 (2 sons aged 11 and 19 years) recently stayed for one night in this hotel. We shared a quadruple room which included a queen sized bed and a pull out sofa bed which our sons were comfortable sharing. We took the train to Assisi stazione and then a bus to a stop near the Albergo Porta... More

Loved this hotel. Request room 34, but there may be others with a balcony. What a view! And the hotel is located perfectly for exploring everything. The staff was incredibly helpful. I can't say enough good things about the front desk. Breakfast was good. Dinner in the steps-away Pallotta restaurant is a must.
