Hotel Porta Romana is just outside the ancient walls of Siena on the old road to Rome, within easy walking distance of Piazza Del Campo. When you drive into the hotel grounds though, there is a different world. There are extensive gardens and terraces, woodland and wild life (deer & pheasant) and beautiful views across the Tuscan hillside. We had... More

Very nice hotel with great view and very good service. Just outside of the city wall.We choose it because of the parking space for the car. From there the city's center (piazza and duomo) are about 15-20min on foot which is ok.The mornings you are greeted with great view from the outside (not all rooms of course) and birds singing. The breakfast... My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. Beautiful view from our 3rd floor room, which was basic but fine. Nice firm bed and OK bathroom. Michael and Vincent (brothers) at the reception desk were great and very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good and the ladies in the kitchen very friendly and fun. We saw... More

We checked into this hotel while driving through Siena. It had parking and was close to a bus stop for a quick trip into central Siena. Nice owner who went out of his way to help us. Small typical italian shower but very very large room with great bed, sofa, table and chairs. Everything was spotless.

We spent two days in Siena! And it was a memorable experience! But the hotel was a surprise, and a good one! If you picture yourself what Tuscany would look like, you only have to stay at the terrace of this hotel! The view is amazing and you have the feeling that Tuscany lays underneath your feet! The peace and... More

The hotel may be basic by some people's standards but what do you need when on holiday? You should be out and about enjoying the outdoors, the food, the scenery and only sleeping in your room. For that, this hotel is more than acceptable. I thought it was charming, rustic and quaint. Authentic Italian, immaculately clean, very comfortable bed, fantastic... More

We struggled to find a room in Siena with our own bathroom and parking on site - this hotel was great for both. The room was a good size with comfy beds and the gardens and views were beautiful - we saw a wild baby deer on our first evening! The only downside was the walk into the centre of... More

I have to say that after being on the coast, 5-Terre, one begins to have a higher expectation of places to stay in the city. Although we tried to be objective and accept the fact that Porta Romana Hotel in Siena is in the city, we expect almost a higher standard. First, the positives. The hotel is just outside the... The hotel is overally nice. You get a free parking, charming breakfast area and a pretty panoramic view. It is located 20 minutes walking distance from the Sienna center (I timed it. Twice. And I'm a fast walker.) But everything gets spoiled if you get a wrong room. We got the room H. Lady luck didn't smile on us. I... More

A mere hop, skip and jump from Piazza del Campo, this hotel has fantastic service & facilities. Breakfast is typically Italian and adequate given all the wonderful places to eat in the city centre. The garden and hot tub is an oasis of peace just outside the city walls. The walk is about 12 mins from the Centre of Siena.... More
