This was a return visit for my husband and me. We stayed for only one night nine years ago, but I made sure we made Borgo Grondaie our home base in Siena. We were in Italy for two weeks and divided our time equally between Rome, Florence and Siena. Rome and Florence were chaotic compared to our stay at Borgo... More

We just stayed at Borgo Grondaie April 10-14, and had a very generous and lovely 1 BR apt on 4.5 acres gorgeous grounds. What a true pleasure this was. We were completely charmed and instantly fell in love with the people and the surroundings. The hostess and staff were a true delight speaking fluent English and other languages. We had... More

We stayed in the Cipresso apartment with our 2 children- 15 and 17. It was perfect for the 4 of us with lots of room. We had our own room, our daughter had her own room and our son had a pullout in the living/kitchen area (his turn!). The apartment was clean and comfortable with a lovely sitting area outside.... Ideal if you want quiet, yet easy access to Siena. Very nice saltwater pool for relaxing. Apartments are very nice for cooking. Easy access to a local coop. Easy to walk to town if you use escalators near the train station.

What a wonderful find! Tremendous value, terrific staff (like all reviewers, we love Gaia), one of our best experiences in 3 weeks touring Italy. Our beautiful apartment was spacious and equipped with everything we would need (from kitchen to bathroom). The private terrace had a view of old Sienna and its walls across the green park-like grounds of the hotel,... More

My wife and I stayed two nights at Borgo Grondaie in October 2013. The accommodations were very comfortable and due to its location outside of the city it is very quiet and peaceful with several wonderful outdoor places (including a pool) to sit and simply enjoy some peaceful moments. The breakfast is top-notch with terrific pastries, fruit, choices of cereals,... More

The Borgo Grondaie was spectacular! We arrived after a very long day coming up from the south by train and then renting a car in Florence and avoiding ZTL's to get out of town on the way to Siena. We came via the road through Greve in Chianti and it was lovely. Pulling up to the Borgo we met Wolfgang... More

We stayed at the hotel / apartments in August - ourselves and another couple each had an apartment / suite. Very clean and the people most friendly. The location to the Siena walls was adequate (a 5E taxi ride) or for fit walkers. (Hikers) the grounds, pool area and facilities among the best we have stayed in. The value was... More

As we approached Borgo Grondaie we could see that this was somewhere special and indeed it is. The staff are charming and helpful, our room was well appointed, comfortable and peaceful. The outside seating and courtyard areas of Borgo Grondaie were a delight as was the breakfast. The swimming pool has wonderful views of Siena without the crowds. One tip... More

My family and I began our 5 night sojourn after our very professional driver (arranged by the hotel) delivered us from the Florence airport. The Chiesino apartment was a comfortable home (with quiet, cool air conditioning) for us while we gradually let the food, wine and magic of Siena be an important part of our lives. The Palio is a...
