We had a delightful stay at il Vicario for five days, just 3 kilometers from the stunning hill town of San Gimignano. Fulvio and his niece Katia are the most gracious hosts! Fulvio provided a delicious continental breakfast each morning. He sat with us each day and provided specific directions and pointers for that day's adventure. Katia led us and... More

B & B's are popular because they usually afford personal contact with their owners. At Il Vicario you get that in spades! Fulvio is a larger-than-life character who is great fun to be with. He is also immensely helpful and knowledgeable about what to see and where to go and really connects with his guests. He has obviously puts his... More

We were doing a driving trip through Italy with family and wanted to do something special for my mother's birthday. Some online research led us to Fulvio's cooking class at Il Vicario. We didn't stay at the B&B but did spend a day learning to cook (and eat!) authentic Italian. The setting is very pretty - San Gimignano is quintessential... More

This is a quaint B and B just outside San Gimignano. It's a bear to find but the owner, Fulvio, whom we called in confusion, came and directed our car to his place. Three of us stayed in two rooms in this 1300s edifice. We found the rooms to be nice sized and the bathrooms quite adequate. As other reviewers... More

We return to IlVicario on a yearly basis. This time we had our family with us (all 8 of us including our four year-old granddaughter. Our kids loved the cooking lesson with Fulvio and Katia. Even our granddaughter participated making pici. Delicioso! Nice improvements to the b&b. Fresh paint and new bathrooms in some rooms were lovely. But, of course,... More

Me and my wife had a cooking class with the owner himself, Fulvio, and it was truly an amazing time to learn the secrets of Tuscany cooking. Fulvio was such a great host and a teacher, and I must say this cooking class was one of the highlights of our honeymoon in Tuscany.

Just can't give 5 stars to Il Vicario. It's in a gorgeous location and Falvio was a wonderful host. He gave us great advice about touring in Tuscany. 5 stars for each of those! However, having stayed in other Tuscan properties, it fell short of our expectations in regards to accommodations. There was poor lighting in the bathroom and room,... More

Stayed 2 nights at vicario in order to drive around the Tuscany countryside of sienna, Chiantis, San gimignano and nearby castle areas. Quiet B&B made warm by the host hospitality. He's humorous and makes good Tuscany fare for 25euro per pax for 3 course meal with new glass of wine for each dish. Would love to stay one more night... More

To experience the real, authentic Italian & Tuscan hospitality & great food, you have to book a cooking course with Flavio & Katia... This was one of the highlights of our trips. We learned so much from them about Italy, their food, their lifestyle & the way they socialize. Katia's baby was due in the week we did the course.... More
