I loved staying in La Cisterna. The location REALLY couldn't be better- it's on the main piazza in San Gimignano. Our room (the least expensive one with no views) was lovely and beautifully decorated, with newly removated spacious bathroom. We had a great stay in San Gimignano and this is one of the few hotels inside the village I believe ; being there allows you to experience the place at times when it is less crowded and more authentic, which is great. The hotel has decent if small rooms, the restaurant serves good food, and the people are nice.... more

I stayed at this hotel in March 2009 and i will definitely be back on my return to San Gimignano. The hotel was reasonably priced for the off season of March. We stayed at La Cisterna the weekend of the Medieval Festival (more on that below) . The hotel is fantastic - medeival building right on the main square and they put up with all our questions about the festival and parking.
