The four nights I spent at Al Tondone are right at the top of my happy memories of a month in Italy. Anna, Benito, and daughter Paula literally open their beautiful suburban home to guests from all over the world. They are the epitome of unintrusive hospitality. My room was large, immaculate, bright, quiet, and private, with a modern en... more

We stayed at Al Tondone for 6 nights and we loved every minute of it. Anna, Benito and Paula are the friendliest and kindest people we met in Italy. We were picked up from the train station by Anna and sent off to the station by Paula. We had the double en-suite room which overlooking the garden and it was... more

This is one of the best B & Bs we have stayed in. We found it comfortable, warm and with excellent breakfasts. We would recommend it to anyone considering a visit to Lucca. Anna and Benito were always most helpful. We were taken from and to the station and delivered to Lucca at agreed times. more

Having travelled to many parts of Italy, we had still not visited Lucca, so thought we'd spend three nights there. And fortunately we looked at this website before deciding where to stay. Al Tondone is a wonderful b&b - actually, that's all we ever really use any hotel for anyway - run by the marvellous Anna, whose sole role in... more

We stayed for two nights at Al Tondone and can't thank Anna and Benito enough for making our stay so special. Anna was such a wonderful host and the best way that we can describe Al Tondone is to think of a stay there as being more like staying in someone's home rather than a B&B. Tea/coffee is provided all... more

Anna and Bonito are perfect hosts! very genuine and friendly. We travelled to Lucca with our elderly grandparents, mother and out 18 month old child. When we have been on our own we have stayed in the city but we wanted something different this time. There is a magic to this B&B, the breakfasts are excellent and as a chef... more

The family are very welcoming and the breakfast was interesting. Our room was basic with no TV, air-conditioning, shower gel; the garden, although pretty, was spoiled by mosquitos from a nearby stream which also roamed around the bedroom at night although finally a spray was provided on our third terrified night. The location was the most disappointing thing - near... more

We couldn't have had a more wonderful time in Lucca - Anna and Benito were the best hosts ever! Anna's generosity and kindness is unparalleled - she came to find us when we got lost getting there and even took us into Lucca town on our first day so we would know how to get there! Travelling with two small... more

We booked Al Tondone without having done much research, but I could not have wished for a better place to stay. It is located about 2km outside the historic walled city of Lucca, but it is very quick and easy to get to the centre, as there are bicycles for the guests to borrow free of charge, and it is... more

Stayed for 8 nights. Lovely breakfast each morning and relaxation in lovely shaded garden. We did not have a car so the use of bicycles was ideal and great fun. Anna and Benito were extremely helpful with recommendations of places to eat and visit and always willing to pick up and drop to railway station. Hopefully we shall visit again.... more
