Hotel was in classic converted stone buildings on hillside outside Lucca. 15 mins by car. Rooms and public areas very clean and comfortable. Staff helpful. Pool dramatic views and good size. Breakfast on lovely outside terrace was disappointing - dry bread and cold coffee but this was the only negative. Be clear as to whether you are not in the... More

After a exciting drive up to the house we the staff and the owner who were very kind and helpful. Stunning views and lovely swimming pool. The rooms were clean and fine with "Tuscany" interior. We had all our meals at the restaurant located next door. Nice simple breakfast.

The property is beautiful. Rooms are spacious and lovely decorated. Very clean. Location is great but please bear in mind the hotel is 20 mins drive from Lucca and other villages. If you don't have a car you will spend quite a lot of money on cabs. There are no restaurants or shops nearby. Staff were great, in particular Adriana.... More

The villa is high on the hillside of Mastiano (just keep on driving up the hill as our sat nav told us we had “reached our destination” way too early). The villa has stunning views across the valley that can be enjoyed at breakfast and dinner. Our room was clean, well equipped and had views across the valley. The hotel... More

Uncomfortable drive to the hotel, even more since they showed the wrong address at the confirmation and we ended up in the middle of nowhere at some dependance. But even at the location itself there's nothing to do at all, and if you want to go down to the city it is unsafe at night. When we arrived they missed... More

This hotel is beautiful - we arrived after driving down from Camogli and had quite a lot of trouble finding it. However when we arrived we were welcomed by the lovely owner and his wife (we assume!).They were both really welcoming and lovely and they showed us to our room. The room itself was clean and simple, but had a... More

This hotel is in a stunning and very peaceful location with great views overlooking the Tuscan hills and countryside. There is an infinity pool and the hotel grounds are lovely. Our room was a good size as was the bathroom. The hotel is very nicely presented with a restaurant attached which had a lovely outdoor setting with fantastic views and... More

When I say hidden it is very tricky to find even with a sat nav but ....... Wow is it worth it! Perched on top of a hill with stunning views of the Tuscan landscape this is a wonderful hotel. We had a warm welcome and our room was ready. The former monastery has been lovingly restored to the highest... More

Found Villa Volpi after browsing the net for small quiet hotels. Fantastic location with great views of the Tuscan hills. Queit location off the beaten track means you will need a car, but as a base for visiting Florence, Pisa and Lucca (don't miss this lovely town) it is well located. Food in the attached restaurant (not part of hotel,... More
