Want to echo the comments of a lot of other reviewers. I think this place is great value for the location, and didn't have a problem with the age/cleanliness, however we also arrived at a time there was no one on site. I don't mind when I arrive early and our room is not ready, as long as we can... More

Positives: good location, large rooms, comfortable bed Negatives: shower quite mouldy, noise from outside (not fault of b&b), and kitchen smelly with leaky fridge It was a good place to camp and explore lucca as it's in a great location, but expect what you pay for- basic but comfortable

We only stayed for one night as we were travelling around Italy, but the room was clean and tidy. It was fairly quiet and the room had a fan so sleep was pretty undisturbed. It is a pretty basic B&B so if you want something with more facilities then go somewhere else. But for the location and value we enjoyed... More

The room was very small and not adequately cleaned. The bathroom was not spotless and the toilet smelled. There was out of date kitchen equipment. The bed was uncomfortable with it`s thin mattress and pillows. We could not sleep, because of the noise from the restaurants and bars close by. At 5.30.A.M. every day, the delivery services would woke us up... More

The beds were good and clean with nice crispy sheets, the bathroom was clean but the toilet seat was broken. The beautiful antique tilefloors looked dirty, the doors and lightswithces etc were really really dirty. With no staff present there was no service available, eg to replace a broken lightbulb. Very noisy outside until 3.30 am. Furniture was ok. Nice... More

We stayed in two - bedroom in August. We said we will come at 2.P.M. But instead we arrived in Lucca earlier. Luckily we had no problem with that, because we called Fabio with our mobile phone, and he came five minutes later. Fabio was very nice, he gave us a map of Lucca and told us what cites are... More

Alla Dolce Vita was the worst place we stayed in during our 10-day Italy trip. It was cheap, so I will give it some points for "value," but that's about all it has going for it. For starters, when we arrived at the building, there was a note on the door saying that no one is there to meet arriving... More

We booked knowing the price was lower than everywhere else we had stayed ;however it was only for the one night , and it was a Rick Steve's recommendation. It is called a B&B - it is not, but there is a common kitchen guests are free to use. As other reviewers have noted, it is rather dingy looking, cold,... More

the operator Fabio was super friendly and he;lped us with a map pf the small town. He also told us abotu one of the highlights of our trip, a mini-opera perfromed nightly very reasonably in Lucca because Puccini was born there and baptized in the church they perfrom it at. Lucca is amazing, small and friendly and just enough culture... More

We found this place having arrived at the train station and visiting the tourist office. For Euro 65 a night we were worried but it was wonderful. The Alla Doce Vita is situated at the end of the main shopping district within the walls. The house is old, but clean and very 'Italian', basic but quite confortable and in such... More
