We were surprised to see just how old this place was! Our hesitation to go in and stay was quickly diminished by the warm greeting we received from Lily and Simonetta who helped us bring the suitcases up 3 flights of stone stairs. Lily quickly took us under her wing and showed us where all the necessary places were in... More

La Romea is a fantastic B&B, very clean, great rooms with really high ceilings and AC, lovely period decor, great location just off Piazza San Michelle The two hostesses are extrremely friendly and efficient. and the breakfasts and coffee were fantastic. We really enjoyed our 3 nights and hope to return again sometime

Found La Romea quite easily on foot from the bus station with map in hand! What a fabulous place. The red room was large with a proper double bed (not 2 singles joined together) and a good sized shower room. Clean towels every day and efficient air conditioning, good breakfast. Felt like a local with our own door key. There... More

La Romea is a restored 14th century palazzo in the heart of Lucca. The rooms were beautiful and awe-inspiring, with casement windows, thick walls and centuries-old exposed beams. My daughter and I slept the soundest sleep of our stay in Italy in this room; I think that the centuries of history, combined with the thick walls, helped us! The staff... More

This is a lovely little B&B. We stayed in the ivory room. It was very clean, quiet, large and comfortable. Everything was provided, nice clean towels every day, good hairdryer. Breakfast was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. Very Italian. They arranged for us to be collect at the airport and delivered back at the end of our stay. It... More

Our family of 4 (children 10 and 12) stayed here in March 2007 in the blue room, accurately shown on hotel website. Quiet. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Definitely above average breakfast. Largest bathroom I can remember. You must climb some stairs in this old (? 700 yrs) building, but it is worth it. Good location. Lucca itself may be... More

We stayed at La Romea for four nights in March, 2007. The location and setting are wonderful if you like being in the middle of the old city. Many attractive and interesting sights are within a ten minute walk, for example, the famous Guinigi tower is about a two minute walk away, the Roman amphitheater area less than ten minutes..... Our two night stay in the Ivory room was great. A good sized room, beauritfully decorated and very peaceful. We have experienced many accommodation options in Lucca during numerous visits over the last forty years or so and La Romea is a welcome addition to a beautiful city which is bereft of peaceful, quality, air-conditioned rooms. As others have already... More

Have just returned from my stay at La Romea and cant wait to get back. The welcome you recieve is very warm and Gaia and Giulio cant do enough to help, from recommending places to eat to where to find an opera. Our room was beautiful and spotlessly clean, with fresh flowers, a pleasant change from hotel rooms which all... More
