This was one of our 2 favorite hotels (out of 6) during our recent trip to Italy. Our room was very large and the breakfast quite wonderful - lots of fresh fruit. The owners were very nice and helpful. Would highly recommend. more

Lucca is our new home away from home, thanks in large part to a great stay at La Romea. Not only the rooms wonderful but the service exceeded our expectations. There is a lot of attention given to the decor with lots of little touches with guests in mind. They helped us see Lucca as more than a tourist blowing... more
We drove to Lucca from Civitevecchia. If you have a car, call Giulio right when you get to the city...you will save time and headache (long story)! Owner Giulio was so eager to please and so helpful. We stayed on a very busy Saturday (antique market and concert in the square that night)...lots and lots of people. We thought it... more
This is a really lovely, small bed and breakfast, run superbly by its warm and friendly owners Gaia and Guilio. It couldn't be better located in central Lucca, and was a fantastic base for exploring the town. We stayed in the Red Room, which was spacious, beautifully furnished and very comfortable, and there were even some original frescoes still visible... more
April 28-29 LaRomea was the best bet in B&B lodging in Lucca. We absolutely loved it while visiting Lucca and Pisa. The attentive hosts, Gaia and Giulio, couldn't do enough to make our trip more pleasant. The place was farther from the train station than the map indicated. Then there were flights of steps to overcome before arriving at this... more
Very pleasant B&B. Researched many places in Lucca and found this to be the most charming. La Romea was simple with charm that could not be beat. Breakfast was more than we could have imagined. Anything one could want was available, even had scrambled eggs cooked for us. Would recommend if wanting a relaxing stay. more
We spent 3 nights in Lucca at La Romea in the Red Room. It was a lovely B&B, although one must remember that it is a B&B and not a hotel. The breakfast was the highlight - much more than offered at most hotels we stayed in throughout Italy. The owners met us at the entrance to Lucca and helped... more
We researched long and hard to find a very special B&B in Lucca for a week's stay for our wedding trip in September this year. La Romea looked good and had good reviews... but nothing prepared us for the welcome, hospitality, love and care that we received. I cannot recommend them highly enough...our hosts, the young Italian owners, Gaia and... more
We have stayed at La Romea twice, in the red room and the green rooom. Both times were wonderful. We love Lucca and we think that La Romea is the nicest B&B we have stayed in anywhere in the world. The hosts Giulio and Gaia are lovely, warm and charming people who make you feel completely at home. Breakfast is... more
We have just returned from a very enjoyable five day visit to Lucca and La Romea. This was our fourth time in Lucca, having previously stayed in a hotel just outside the city walls, but our first time at La Romea which is situated on the first floor i.e. up a flight of stairs, of a 14th. century palazzo in... more
