Staying in this historic building was a great experience. It felt as though we had stepped back in time--but with all of the modern conveniences! The suite was especially nice--huge bedroom and bathroom with lovely ceilings and frescoes. As others have said, breakfast was delicious and plentiful and owners were most gracious. Lucca is very easy to navigate on foot... more

I heard about La Romea on TA. Booking via email was a breeze, and quickly had 2 rooms for my wife and I, as well as another couple booking with us. We arrived in Lucca at 11:30 a.m. from Vernazza, and headed to the tourist office that we had been instructed to stop at to get in contact with the... more

Lots of good things about this place. The location was great, right in the middle of Lucca. We stayed for 5 nights and were well looked after. We were given a map on arrival and some main points of interest were shown to us, including a couple of recommended restaurants which was well used. Since we were in Italy for... more

Stayed for three nights at the beginning of two weeks holiday in Lucca and Cinque Terre. We had a huge room with quirky bathroom and the owner could not have been more helpful. It was a real home from home. She spent a long time showing us on a map where all the attractions were and recommending restaurants for every... more

We had trouble finding La Romea at first, but staying here more than made up for it. The B&B is extremely charming, with a very rustic yet cozy reception area, very clean rooms, and very clean and new bathrooms. The husband and wife owners, Giulio and Giulia, run the establishment by themselves (down to carrying bags and cooking breakfast), and... more

Pros: 1. very helpful hosts - Julio met us outside the Tourism Information service and led us to a parking lot, and then drove us with our bags to La Romea. The next day, at an agreed time, he drove us back to the parking lot to pick up our car (trust me, the streets in Lucca are so narrow... more

The town of Lucca is one among a lengthy list of Tuscan towns that is well worth a (night or two or three) detour, and the La Romea B & B makes for the perfect accompaniment. While not easy to locate (it's on a wee lane with barely noticeable signage), La Romea is well worth seeking out, as it provides... more

Upon arrival we were met at the door by the lovely owner who welcomed us up to the sparce, dimly lit sitting room. She gave us a brief overview of the town then showed us our room. Our first impression was that it was "ok" - both the room and the common area were poorly lit and there was nothing... more

We stayed in the Ivory Room for 3 nights during August and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Romea. We were worried about car parking in the centre and needn't have worried as Giulio met us at the Tourist Info Centre, took us to the car park and returned the car to us at the end of our stay. Nothing... more

This was one of our 2 favorite hotels (out of 6) during our recent trip to Italy. Our room was very large and the breakfast quite wonderful - lots of fresh fruit. The owners were very nice and helpful. Would highly recommend. more
