A wonderful and historic B&B that's perfectly located for tourists. We booked the suite, which was lovely and extremely spacious. My only complaint is that we didn't stay long enough to fully enjoy Lucca, our hotel and the hospitality of Giulio and Gaia. Absolutely stay here if you are able (they only have a few rooms).

I booked this very last minute, and I'm so lucky they had availability. Amazing hospitality, wonderful breakfast, and great central location. They offer a great discount if you book directly, pay in cash, and have the Rick Steves book (which is how I found this place). Dinner recommendation was spot on. Only down fall was the awful directions they sent... More

We felt very fortunate La Romea had availability when we stayed in Lucca. We stayed in the green room, which was really fabulous. We had a nice quiet stay, and the communal area (pictured) is really great - it almost has the feel of a hip coffee shop in the states, and self-serve coffee and tea are available. The entire... We first stayed here 8 years ago and were so impressed with the location, character and warmth of welcome that we just had to return. Although it has taken 8 years for us to do so, we were not disappointed. Giulio and Gaia are wonderful hosts and not surprisingly, very little has changed. That is the appeal of Lucca and... More

We loved staying at La Romea B&B in April 2014. We stayed for two nights and the location was wonderful - in the middle of Lucca near the main drag. Giulio and Gaia were gracious hosts who oriented us to the city and gave directions when we asked. Breakfast was lovely, and one of the few places you can get... More

We had a wonderful stay over New Year at " La Romea". The couple who owns and runs the place are absolutely fantastic people, the rooms are beautiful and unique, the breakfast is really good... The list could go on and on. Should you ever plan to visit Lucca, this is the place to stay!

Lucca is fascinating - full of history, and some great restaurants and bars! La Romea is in the centre and parking is available about half a mile away. However, Giulio and Gaia are really helpful and will park your car for you once you have arrived with your luggage and will help when you leave. The bedrooms are traditionally furnished... More

Lovely high ceiling rooms in an old building. Lots of charm, and supported by Gaia and Giulio who both have a lovely sense of humor. The location couldn't be more perfect; in the very center of this very old town. We drove to La Romea, and without Gaia's written instructions we would not have made it. The GPS is worthless... More

I stayed here for 4 nights in the green room. I have never had such gracious, friendly and helpful hosts in my life. They spent quite a bit of time with me when I arrived showing me where everything was and recommending restaurants etc. They called multiple taxis for me for my excursions and were seriously some of the nicest... Based on the reviews on TripAdvisor, I was expecting some sort of faded grandeur and palatial surroundings. The reality is far more quirky, and I'm guessing that it is the age of the building which garners such fab reviews rather than anything else. It's about a 15 minute walk from the bus station, through the winding medieval streets of Lucca,... More
