Stayed one night here during a walking holiday and loved it. An old villa with lots of public rooms to explore, antiques, some of them a little battered, all over the place and bedrooms with views over Florence. Service from the many family members is a little haphazard (too many cooks?) but well-meaning and friendly. The terrace, covered by an... More

We stayed at Pensione Bencista while attending a wedding in Fiesole. We had been spoilt by accommodation we adored prior to getting there so were naturally a little underwhelmed on arrival. From the outside this is a beautiful old Italian house. Inside it is quite dated - some would say this is what's to love about Pensione Bencista - its... More

Having completed a 2 weeks walk in Italy (Walkabout Tours) I wanted a quiet place to finish my trip but close to Florence. This little family run hotel is just delightful. Lovely staff (3 generations helping out); meals great; atmosphere wonderful; delightful gardens and terraces to eat and relax. A short bus trip into the heart of Florence. This lovely... More

I visited this property 20 years ago and always remembered the beautiful sunsets over Florence. My return visit did not disappoint me. The property is charming and the view over Florence is spectacular. The family that runs this property is so nice and it is like staying in someone's home. The dinner in the dinning room very good and so... More

Perched in the hills overlooking Florence, this Pensione has been run by the same family for more than 80 years. The Villa is in excellent condition and exceptional views. The rooms with en suite baths are simple and well appointed. Terraces with comfortable seating, well tended gardens and a new spa complete the ambience. Food service on the property is... More

Had a wonderful stay here, worth it for the view of Florence spread out below alone. Quirky rooms and living areas, an authentic old Italian villa shared with the public by the family. The climb to the bus stop is steep, so take it slowly and walk of some of that God food

My parents first came to the Bencista forty years ago. It is still the same family running the hotel and it is just as magical and welcoming as it was then. The view from the terrace is spectacular and be sure to dine in the restaurant.

My wife and I thought that our visit to Florence should start with a time of rest in Fiesole to overcome jet lag from flying in from California. After reading reviews of the Pensione Bencista we decided to give it a try. It was even better than we had hoped. The room was spacious and clean, the terraces were very... More

I didn't expect to start with the magnificent view from the BATHROOM, but the view from our City-view room was breathtaking - the entire city of Florence seen above an arbor thick with purple wisteria. No TV in the room to break the view OR the mood. The bedroom furnishings are period but well-maintained (with a huge, king bed, easy... More

This is a wonderful hotel or "pensione", cosy family style, with fantastic service, tv free rooms, an amazing location, simply an ideal place to a Spend a few days peacefully. A lot of people here attend EUI conference so you are likely to bump into academics. To go to Firenze, you take bus 7, which departs every 15 minutes. To... More
