Family-run, comfortable, convenient to Fiesole and Florence. Staff bent over backward to make ours an enjoyable stay. The views of Florence at dawn and sundown were amazing....I am reluctant to recommend this one--I'd rather keep it to myself! The only drawback is access--a rental car is a MUST. The driveway is steep, long, and winding; an equally steep, long footpath... more

We stayed here for 5 days, and loved it. It's a lovely old villa, with a friendly staff and clean and bright rooms. The grounds are full of olive groves and lemon trees. You can see Il Duomo in the distance, with miles of beautiful grounds in between. There are three levels of terraces, so it's not crowded even if... more

We've just enjoyed our stay at the Bencista, a nicely sized room with extensive views. The building has a period manor-house feel with matching furniture and fittings, opulent sitting rooms and spacious terrace seating on different levels. The staff were friendly and helpful with all the arrangements and very professional. The set-menu food was good standard cafeteria, certainly with a... more

Introduced to the Bencista by a good friend who enjoys the place so much he was almost reluctant to share it. If its glitzy impersonal boutique hotels you want this is not the place for you. Watching the sun setting over Florence sitting on the terrace after an amazing meal made from locally sourced produce is my idea of heaven.... more

We are amazed by the unfairness of the comment of "I Love Italy" as we stayed in this place at the same time. It was our first stay at the Pensione Bencista and we spent one week there. The villa is located inside of a parc with fruit and olive trees. We found the owner of the hotel more than... more

The Pensione is a wonderful old building with great views of Florence. However, this is the only good feature of the hotel. The "daughter of the house" who ran the hotel was very obnoxious. Every morning we were woken early by her load voice calling out to staff. She had her favored guests and kept others guest waiting while she... more

We just stayed at Pensione Bencista with our 4 young children, and couldn't have hoped for a better stay. The location is wonderful, with perfect views of Florence, the Duomo resting snugly in the city center. We ate breakfast looking at the city, and dinner in a large, high-ceilinged hall, with food that we found very good, and our children... more

I just returned from a trip to Italy & was fortunate enough to end it with a 2 night stay at Bencista. Go & enjoy sitting on the terrace ,enjoying a bottle of wine & taking in the stunning views of Florence. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Dinner in the huge dining room is perfectly simple and... more

Stayed here for 4 nights in October 2008. This property overlooks Florence in the hills. Some rooms have excellent views to Florence . First night Rm 17 - bath with hand shower. Moved night 2 to Rm 22 with excellent full bath room with separate shower. Beds comfortable and good size. This is not a modern establishment so walls were... more
