This is quite simply the most delightful place to stay. If you want air conditioning, room service, deluxe bathrooms and bellboys in lavish uniforms - stop reading now. If you want quiet, cool, impeccably clean rooms smelling of beeswax and dried flowers, with the kind of polished furniture topped with marble your grandmother might have had if your grandmother were... we thank you very much for your kind words and thoughts. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in our house. Every winter we are closed for maintainance but now we are nearly ready to open again. The garden is full of flowers and we feel very lucky to have this nice spring I am looking forward... More

We stayed at Pensione Bensista twice during our recent swing through Tuscany. They had been recommended by separate groups of our friends, one of whom had been coming back here each year for 40 years. The inn, with perhaps 20 rooms, sits on a large beautiful property on the steep slopes of Fiesole, and staying there is like stepping back... More

Wonderful location with breathtaking views of Florence overlooking the Duomo .Very friendly helpful staff - with a "nothing is too much trouble" attitude .Beautiful antique furniture sets off this fabulous hotel .Family owned and run with emphasis in making you feel at home .Lovely... Beautiful views of Florence. Welcoming and helpful staff. Good food and wine. Bus (#7) to Florence is a 7 minute vigorous walk away and takes about 20 mins to get to Florence (1.5 euro).. Free parking, although the roads to the hotel and autostrada are narrow and twisty. The owners and staff are terrrific to talk to and get information.... More

We arrived at Bencista just as a thunder storm was kicking off. The views over Florence were amazing. As this is a small country house hotel we were a little worried about going down to dinner. We both expected to find Poirot sat in the dining room and a blood-curdling scream to interrupt the soup course. However, all was well.... More

We stayed for four wonderful nights at the beautiful and enchanting Pensione Bencista... recommended by two different sets of friends and it did not disappoint! The family are charming, the food and wine is amazing and the view is breathtaking, we could not have been happier with our stay here. Travelling with children can sometimes present problems, but not here.... More

that I'll point out a few shortcomings, but emphasize that they are greatly outweighed by the positive factors other reviewers have already emphasized. 1) the physical plant: grounds, public areas, rooms are charming because of the patina of age & tradition, but nonetheless are in need of some freshening up; 2) the entryway, in large part because of the steep... This is the perfect place for relaxation. The rooms are somewhat basic but there is even a charm in that and only enhanced when you open the shutters to magnificent views and see the walls are some 40-50cms thick - talk about old world. My family of three stayed there for two weeks and to have breakfast each morning on... More

We travelled to Florence for a family wedding. We had 2 single rooms, 1 double room and a triple room, the first night 2 of our party ate on the terrace in Bencista, they said their meal was delicious, we had eaten in Florence and said we would join the others for a drink on the terrace, we had just... Recommended by friends who have had three generations of family stay here over the years. This is probably the best location in the area for vistas of Florence, with amazing sunsets thrown in. The pensione does not have TV and is designed for total relaxation, although WI-fi signal excellent. The rooms are basic but fit into the nature of the... More
