We stayed here for 2 nights and it was perfect! The roof terrace was awesome and it wasn't too far into town which was great (about a 10 minute walk to the train station). The breakfast that was provided was basic but just enough. Rooms really comfortable and the whole place has quite a nice feel to it. Would love... More

Alla Dimora Altea is about an 11 minute walk from the train station, and if you're speedy- about a 20 minute walk from the Duomo (the main tourist sights). There aren't any public transportation options, so I would only recommend this place for those who are able and willing to walk that distance. In exchange however, the price and quality... More

We stayed here in April, 2015. Nice and clean room. Lovely terrace, when it was so please to have breakfast.Yes, there is a railway station near the hotel, but it was good for us. (we traveled by train). May be it would be better to have a little bit more for breakfast. Especcialy for people, who like a full, long... More

Yes, it is a little bit of a walk to the tourist sights and it is near the train tracks, but this is a place that we would stay at again. Nice, clean room, beautiful terrace for relaxing, good price. With all of that said it is Mattel, the owner, that really makes a stay here very, very enjoyable. He... More

We stayed here in August 2014. We had mixed feelings about this B&B, but overall left with a good impression of a well run establishment though there are areas that could be improved. The B&B is on the 6th floor of an apartment block. Exterior signage is not good, but the owner came and met us outside when we called... More

This B&B is on the 6th floor of an apartment block (it has the feel of a large apartment/office which has since been converted into 5 - 6 rooms as a B&B). Although the view is not of the good-looking part of Florence, the terrace is large and it is ideal if you want to enjoy your food/drinks outdoors, or... More

Me and my sister spent 3 days in Alla Dimora Altea. It is a nice place, very comfortable, very clean, close to the train station. We enjoyed it very much - thanks! The breakfast is in the room and there is a coffee machine in the corridor

This was a very nice B & B. The rooms were quaint. The staff was very helpful and friendly which made our trip that much better. The view of the city from the room was magnificent. I will recommend this B & B to everyone. Thanks for making our trip extra special.

Me and my girl friend spend 2 nights in Alla Dimora Altea at the end of 2013. Our check-in was supposed to be later than the office hours, hence Matteo and Alessio (the two guys who run the hostel) were very cooperative by organising a hand-over of the room keys to us (including the digicode for the central door). In... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
