Me and my wife visit italy to celebrate our Honeymoon. We made a resevation at hotel hermes main site (a big mistake) after choosing English language, And after we saw details about the hotel that have double bed and private bathroom we decided to order. We get a confirmation in English. One day before we arrive to florence, Italian guy... More

Stayed here in February for one night. Location was great, just across road from the train station and about 5-10mins walk from the main sightseeing spots! Rooms were good, shower was cold but I did not mind this as it woke me up in the morning!!! Staff were nice, very friendly!

recently stayed 2 nights at the hermes and to be honest for what we paid it was perfect. Location is right by railway station although I could not hear any noise. It is a basic hotel which is reflected in the price. breakfast is simple and the chap on reception was very very helpful. If you are after luxury then... More

Very close to Santa Maria Novella station and to the center of Firenze. The team received us well, with city maps and all the information we request, all very friendly. The room was spacious and was well cleaned. The bathroom was not so small, but had no windows and had a very bad smell of mold. The shower curtain was... More

Good location right near main station, within walking distance to city centre. Breakfast was good, and room was adequate. However, wifi service was ridiculous and barely worked, and we had to use a bathroom on the other side of the building which featured a shower over the toilet. The shower left the bathroom covered in water and dangerously slippery.

Hotel Hermes is a clean and well-run utilitarian hotel nearly directly across from the Firenze SMN train station. Tram stop is a few steps away. Bathroom was shared. Sink in room. The breakfast was basic but quite good. Excellent value.

We arrived at the Hermes, and were greeted by the young lady attendant who furnished us with a map whilst we waited for our room to be readied, and also pointed out to us on the map the major places of interest, this set the tone for the rest of the stay. Our room was clean but was dated, as... More

The owners were really nice people. They didn't spoke english very well but they always tried to help us with our questions. The rooms were larger than expected, we had our own bathroom (which was a surprise since they said on hostelworld that it was a shared one), the beds were super confortable and the hotel was quiet and in... We spent two nights there and it was very good. It is near the bus and train station and the city centre. The staff is very nice and helpfull! The bathroom was always clean! The bedrooms are big with a big bed! We would recommend it for sure!

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
