We stayed at the Silla Hotel 2 weeks ago. It is only a very short walk from Ponte Vecchio but a world away from the noise, hustle & bustle of the tourist area. A great area to stay if you appreciate some peaceful relaxation. We drove through Italy so appreciated the on-site parking. There is a small charge for this... More

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel and have no complaints. The location is very easy to get to, close to good restaurants and sites. About a 10-12 euro cab ride from the central train station, but you can walk it or take a bus (we had heavy luggage). There is a park by the hotel that had live music... More

This hotel is on the other side of the river in a great neighbourhood. It provides for beautiful walks to sightsee and proximity to restaurants that are off the beaten path. The room is larger than most European hotels and had an amazing view of Florence and the garden. It is clean with a comfortable bed. The breakfast selection is... More

Great location away from centre of Florence but within easy reach. Staff very accommodating especially as one of my cases was lost in transit and used their laundry facilities. Close to ponte vechia bridge. Rooms were of an old style but in keeping with the hotel, classy with some lovely restaurants nearby.

Excellent hotel, away from the crowd, situated in Oltrarno. View to Arno river and small green parc. Located in ancient villa with courtyard. Nicely decorated rooms, balcony terrace for breakfast, friendly staff. To be recommenfed!

This remains one of my favourite hotels, anywhere.Excellent position on the Altro'Arno, the staff are all really lovely, friendly and efficient.Good breakfasts,on the pleasant terrace if the weather permits. For an "almost" central hotel this can't be bettered in our view.Parking too if required. There are plenty of good restaurants (Osteria San Nicolo) and bars within a few minutes walk ( and a good... We wanted to stay in a Hotel that was not in the middle of all the noise so I reviewed Silla Hotel and was not disappointed. It is a charming boutique style hotel with comfortable rooms and great air conditioning ( considering while we were in Florence the temp was between 95-101 every day. They offer a free, typical Italian... More

I really liked this hotel. Location was within walking distance of everything I wanted to see. Close to the river, making it easy to find at the end of a long day of sightseeing. The room was nice and modern. They have a very nice terrace where breakfast was served and you could sit out there in the evenings and... More

We were in Florence for just one night and did not want to overspend. Luckily we discovered this timeless beauty. I can imagine life a century ago as this great lady exudes class of a bygone era. The front desk is professional and helpful while the rooms are beautiful and quite specious. Morning breakfast on the terrace was a unexpected... More

This place is a little gem - comfortable, nicely furnished, good breakfast, lovely terrace. The service was outstanding, we really enjoyed the staff. It's located across the River Arno and down a bit from the Ponte Vecchio, easy walking distance to any of the attractions in Florence and to many restaurants and shops. Highly recommend this one.

Staying in Piazzale Michelangelo

Neighborhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
