Beautiful old hotel a very short walk from all the city centre attractions. Great wifi in rooms, noisy air conditioning though. Staff efficient but not over friendly or helpful. Buffet breakfast was good and free tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day. Good value and great location.

great location and very accommodating staff. Everything is walking distance. My suggestion if you are considering the laundry service is do the self service. The washer is a good size. The cost is $15 euro for the was and drying. The cost for the hotel to do it is an example $6 euro for a pair of shorts.

We stayed twice at the Hotel Silla during our two week visit. I was very impressed by the courtesy and helpfulness of the staff. The rooms are small, but clean. This hotel is just right if you want to be near the main shopping area but not in the actual crush and we enjoyed the beautiful 2 block walk along... More

We had an enjoyable 4 night stay in the Silla Hotel - all the staff were very pleasant and helpful. As mentioned in other reviews, it is in a brilliant location in Oltrano - only a 5 - 10 minute stroll to Ponte Vecchio/Uffizi, and 15 minutes or so from the Duomo. The room was a good size and was... My husband and I recently stayed here during our honeymoon! This hotel was great. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, and the breakfasts on the rooftop terrace were absolutely delicious! The location was a bit away from the city center, which we enjoyed since it was quieter and in a nicer area. However, it wasn't a far walk at... More

This was a really nice hotel. The breakfast was incredible. The hotel staff were very professional and helpful. We had rooms right next to each other and they were both very nice rooms. The location wasn't amazing but it was fine and better than expected. The wifi was very quick which was very nice. Overall a really nice hotel.

We were on a four night city break and what a brilliant hotel. Not ostentatious but very traditional. It's about a 20-30min walk from the main station (or 12EUR taxi), 15mins from Duomo, 10mins from Ponte Vecchio, Ufizzi and Piazzale Michelangelo, just across the street from the River Arno. Close enough to everything, but away from the often oppressive hustle... More

The hotel is in a great neighborhood across the river from the tourist area, quiet and accessible. It is only 3 blocks from Ponte Vecchio and Plazza Michelangelo. It is also a block away from one of our favorite restaurants, Zeb. It is behind a small park next to the Arne river. We used a taxi from the train station... More

We stayed at the Silla Hotel 2 weeks ago. It is only a very short walk from Ponte Vecchio but a world away from the noise, hustle & bustle of the tourist area. A great area to stay if you appreciate some peaceful relaxation. We drove through Italy so appreciated the on-site parking. There is a small charge for this... More

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel and have no complaints. The location is very easy to get to, close to good restaurants and sites. About a 10-12 euro cab ride from the central train station, but you can walk it or take a bus (we had heavy luggage). There is a park by the hotel that had live music... More

Staying in Piazzale Michelangelo

Neighborhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
