Our room had no internet, no working AC, and was a basic bones room. The room was not cleaned daily and was dirty as well. Management has turned over clearly since the reviews from the summer. This place is a dump and the person working the front desk was anything but pleasant. Would not recommend at all!

Originally I had sent two emails to advise that we would be arriving late, which were not acknowledged. I then phoned through our booking agent and was assured everything was ok. On arrival there was a note on our file there had been plumbing issues and we could not check into our room until the following day. We were to... More

My boyfriend and I found this gem after all other places we checked were booked and boy were we pleased!! The receptionist Mirion was so very sweet and helpful making sure we were happy and comfortable. Our room and bathroom were very clean and the breakfast was delicious! Would recommend to anyone visiting Florence.

Had a great stay at this B&B on a recent solo trip to Florence. Room was spacious and clean, Wi-Fi was okay and breakfast at the terrace was lovely. Location is also good as major attractions like Ufizzi Gallery and Duomo de Firenze are just a few minutes away on foot. Gianni, the owner, also makes sure you are enjoying... More

I wasn't expecting too much, because it was a cheap b&b and I even had doubts if it was so good as you see in the photos. It's even better! It's about 15/20 minutes walk from the center but for the price/quality it's worthy. The room was very nice, very clean and the bathroom (private) was spotless. The wi-fi was... More

When my two friends and I arrived at the hotel, the manager straight away offered to make us coffee, which we gladly accepted before he showed us up to our room (he even carried my suitcase for me). My friends and I shared a private room with en suite bathroom during our 5 day stay at this hotel and we... More

My three friends and I booked a private room which was definitely spacious enough and had a private bathroom. We had a great experience overall. Breakfast is included. It was delicious and is enough food to get you through until lunchtime. The staff were great. One of my friends caught some sort of 24 hour bug and was sick, and... More

While the Soggiorno Laura is an absolutely great hotel in its own right, it is the staff that makes this place first rate. Upon arrival we were greeted by what I can only describe as an italian Shaggy Rogers, who was more than welcoming and like all the staff fluent in English. He upheld great patience with our initial AC... More

This place is fantastic, me and my boyfriend traveled around Europe in September 2014, we where on. Budget, this place blew us away! When first arriving to the hotel it's just a door and you go up a flight of stairs, it was a bit nerving at first but when we got to the reception everyone was so lovely offered... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
