The location of this apartment was great. It was spotlessly clean bery large and the price was right. Our apartment though had a weird layout so that most of the clothes storage was in the front hall. We were going back and forth to get dressed.

......and book this one!!! If you're anything like me, you pour over and over hotels and places to stay before you make a decision. This is a GREAT place to stay. Very close to sites you want to see, close to a great coffee spot, near a taxi stand, grocery and bus stop. Very helpful, gracious host, Francesca makes herself... More

I wish we had been staying here a little longer! Florence is lovely but so busy and Palazzo Alfani was a little oasis of calm despite being in a prime location, right across the street from the Accademia (where you will find David). With great living space, a spacious double bedroom and well appointed kitchen, the facilities were more than... More

Francesca is a gracious host and her hotel / apartment are very comfortable, convenient and spacious. Highly recommend for families. Second time there after 7 years and still the same great place. Air conditioned, separate kitchen and wifi make it easy to do work as required. Hope to get back soon!

We actually got off to quite a bad start here so it says a lot that our opinion was turned around to a positive! I was emailed to ask for time of arrival and was told that somebody would meet us, when we arrived at the time agreed there was nobody there and none of the bell names were obvious... More

I love staying in this place. Hospitality: Francesca, the host, contacted me within a day after I made my booking. I requested for a quiet room and, while still available, Francesca upgraded me to a better apartment. When I asked her for directions in booking tickets with the Accademia Gallery, she offered to help make a phone booking for me... More

We stayed at this apartment for 4 days. it was a very spacious apartment with big rooms and with all the important facilities. The apartment is right opposite Academia museum and Duomo is hardly 7-8 min walk from the apartment. All the shops and restaurants are also 10 min walk away. The owner Francesca is an amazing person as she... More

We were in Italy for 4 weeks and this was the best place we stayed. Francesca (the owner) is wonderful and friendly and helpful. There was a minor problem with the AC and she fixed it immediately - at 10:30 at night. The location is RIGHT across the street from the Accademia (location of the "David") and a 5 minute... More

We stayed 6 days in Palazzo Alfani and we enjoyed every minute. We felt like we were staying at our parents' apartment because of the wonderful, caring service we got from the owner, Francesca. The apartment itself is a gem! Very comfortable, clean, beautiful, and in the best possible location. I wish we could stay longer. I wish we could... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
