We love Leonardo. He was lovely, waiting out of hours for us to arrive, giving us helpful info and doodles on our map, and always there with a friendly hello. The room was brilliant too - so big and comfortable. The memory foam pillows were fantastic. Would definitely go back.

This is like a little gem hidden in this small street in Florence. It is very close to all the major attractions and within walking distance to all of them. The room itself was very cosy, very clean and had a large window, which we left open during the night. It was honestly a very pleasant experience and the service... More

We stayed in a double room which was lovely, had plenty of space with air conditioning and tv. Clean spacious bathrooms, each had toilet and shower. Best part is Leonardo himself very friendly and helpful.

We have stayed here for 3 nights. Room was average, with clean shared bathrooms. But the owner - Leonardo - is so nice. He helped us to explore Florence wonderfully and made our visit more meaningful. Also, the house is in a great location and it really means it - a house!!

My fiance and I stayed at Leonardo House for three days while we were exploring Florence. The owner, Leonardo, was a very helpful host and gave us a plethora of suggestions. He provided free city maps and showed us where all of the sights and restaurants were in relation to our location. He even found us a great value Chianti... More

booked a 3bed room for the trip. Everything is fuss free and great, maps and directions are given by Leornado before the actual day. The location is unbeatable, everything is within walking distance! Friendly and informative host, he gave us maps and points of interest on the first day itself which helps our trip alot. The shared bathroom is kept... More

Leonardo is a lovely host and made us feel very welcome. We arrived outside of reception hours without realising and he happily let us in and even helped carry my luggage up the stairs. We had a private room and ensuite that was very clean and in good condition given it's a hostel. Make sure you get your towels before... More

We only stayed one night in Florence, however Leonardo made it a breeze for us by showing us all the best sights on a map all really close to the house and a fantastic spot to enjoy a drink and watch the sunset over Florence. We stayed in a private double room, the beds were very comfortable even though they... More

I stayed here for a week in last August. It has an excellent location, near shops, restaurants, the Doume and Ponte Vecchio. The room is ok for the price and I could go back next time I go to Florence. The only thing that is was very hot, almost +40 c, so August is not the best month to visit... More

We found Leonardo House very last minute the day before arriving in Florence on Hostelworld.com, and we paid 15EUR each for the night, which was great value. The location is perfect, super close to the main train station and 5 minutes from the Duomo. Even though we had booked to use the communal bathroom, we were given a room with... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
