We chose this hotel for 2 reasons; the price and the reviews. Reviews are clearly fake as this is probably the WORST hotel I have ever been in. But to set things aside, my guess it is not the staff's fault as they only work there. The hotel is located on the side of San Marco café & restaurant. Even... More

We did not want to spend a lot of money, but wanted to be in a good location. The hotel served both purposes. The rooms were small, but that is expected in Italy. The staff was wonderful - very nice and helpful. The breakfast was good - not overly large, but enough. We were just a few minutes to the... More

Location is perfect, it's near San Marco Square - Gallerie dell Academia, 7 min to Dome. The breakfast is perfect, you really don't have to bother because it's very consistent and delicious. The room was ok, very big with confortable beds. The traffic noise in the morning is a little bit disturbing but I can't complain when the place it's... More

Very nice, clean, tidy place with lovely home atmosphere and location! Just great, max 10min walk from bus and train station, 3 min to basilica, less than 10 to the bridge. In the morning good coffee and just enough breakfast everything for good price I would defenetely stay there again.

This hotel is most certainly not good value for money and I've no idea how it even gained one star. Room was in great need of repair. Hotel is on the second floor of an apartment building and the entrance is in a disgusting state. Even had burn holes in the bed cover. On the plus side, the bed was... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
