Mama Marcella gave us an experience we will always remember - She was very hospitable - very much like staying with your grandmother- We left feeling like we were leaving behind family. Marcella didn't speak a lot of English, but her husband spoke Spanish (when he was living) and so Mama picked a good bit of it so conversing with... More

We were very surprised with the friendly atmosphere of this hotel and attentiveness of its owner. We didn't book a room and luckely there was free one in "Marcella". We arrived late in the evening but they met us very warm. A man who looks after rooms sleeps near entrance, so we were didn't worry about our safeness. And! it... More

We ended up staying at Albergo Marcella because the hostel we were hoping to stay at was full, and boy are we glad it was. Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
