This hotel is an old monastery and as such offers a calm and serene atmosphere, perfect for visiting the higly historical city that is Florence. The convitto doens't offer 5 star hotel facilities, but you'll still find it quite comfortable for a short stay. It's very close to the city center and the main attractions, you won't even have to... Convitto della Calza is perfectly situated for exploring Florence. There is an entrance to the Boboli Gardens at Porta Roma within a few paces....a walk through these wonderful gardens takes you right into the Pitti Palace. The walk to the Ponte Vecchio is about 5-10 mins and then you are in the heart of Florence. Good parking in a large public car... More

I only stayed at this hotel for three nights while exploring Florence and found it great value for money, the rooms are quite spacious, as is the bathroom. There is also free Wi-Fi which worked really well and we were on the second floor. Breakfast was good, there seemed a good variety and selection. The blood orange juice was especially... More

I was well impressed with this hotel. The location is fairly good, away from the busy town center but walking distance to everything. WiFi coverage one of the best I have ever experienced in a hotel. I would definitely stay here again. Breakfast did not offer a lot of choice, would be so much better if there is a bigger... More

Me and my friend got a deal with expedia which was this hotel with a flight included with Ryanair. The hotel was fantastic for what we paid. The breakfast buffet each morning was always filled with food (delicious orange juice, might I add). The cleaner comes in every morning to clean and tidy which was a nice touch. The people... More

True to it's history of a Convent, the place offers basic accommodation. I would have thought that for the price we paid, it would be a bit nicer .... but I guess it was part of the Summer pricing madness. The hotel is quite a bit away from the city centre. So, if you are arriving late to the train... More

This hotel is a long walk up hill from the center of Florence. The room was furnished in old basic style. The bath was one of those with the drain in the middle of the bathroom floor, so the whole floor gets wet when you take a shower. But it did have a heated towel rack! The front desk staff... More

This is a horrible hotel. My husband's conference booked us at this hotel. Trust me it is not even close to three stars as listed. How do I start to list how terrible this place is? The hallways are dark and the rooms have very little light. They are more like cells than rooms. There is no ac this time... More

Spent three nights here with my partner and we couldn't really fault it. Staff were very friendly and the rooms (if a little basic) were clean. Breakfast was good with all the stuff you need to fuel up for the day (cereals, croissants, yoghurt, cold meats, tea/coffee etc.). The hotel itself is about a 10 minute walk to the city... More

Hotel Convitti della Calza is a former monastery & it showed from the minute you arrive at reception. Reception was warm & welcoming, though had very limited english. The first thing that you noticed was the width & size of the corridors they were huge. The room was very spatan with extremely basic furniture just as the monks would have... More

Staying in Pitti

Neighborhood Profile
Pitti
Pitti is a neighborhood characterized by art and history. Renaissance architecture such as Pitti Palace, which houses five museums alone, introduces visitors to the green lungs of spectacular Boboli Gardens. Any visitor can wander through statues, fountains, and panoramic viewpoints. Around the garden, treasures like the Museum of Natural History of the Specola and Villa Bardini guide guests through Florence as the cradle of the Renaissance. End the day with an aperitif in Piazza della Passera or the more romantic Forte di Belvedere, which offers an amazing panoramic view of the entire city.
