We really liked this hotel and cannot believe it is only 2 star. It has loads of character and features, such as the stone staircase going around an old fashioned central open caged wood/brass elavator. The rooms were air conditioned, spotlessly clean, large with high ceilings, large draped windows, fancy chandeliers, etc. Ours was a beautfully furnished two bedroom suite,... More

Located in quieter part of town & a relatively straight forward walk from the Stazione, the hotel is also very close to the river, and a lovely walk up to Ponte Vecchio and sights. We booked a standard double room which was very spacious including the bathroom, and well maintained. Quiet at night, but felt very safe. Buffet breakfast was... More

We stayed for 2 nights and loved it here. Clean, comfortable with friendly staff and the breakfast was good also. It is set in a beautiful location and only a short stroll along the river to the city centre. We would highly recommend stay and will be back in the future ☺

A hotel where you get exactly what you pay for. The rooms are nice, the staff is friendly and the breakfast was good. The location of the hotel is nice too - not too close nor too far from the center. Walking back to the hotel by the riverside is a must do! Especially as the sun is setting -... More

We are staying here tonight and tomorrow night. We arrived several hours ago. The man on reception was very welcoming, checked us in, showed us to our room and gave us a free city map, pointing out all the best sights to see and how to get to them on foot or by bus. The room is lovely, with very... More

This was our first stop on our travels around Europe in June 2014, randomly encountered. Pros: - Lorenzo was very helpful and always had a positive approach, very welcoming for tired travellers - Safe/free parking for motorcycles - The double superior room is modest but elegant, clean and pleasant - comfortable bed - free wifi - decent breakfast - classic... Stayed in superior room, with garden views, and it was most relaxing and peaceful. Meanwhile most hotels are located in noisy parts of Florence, this hotel is located in most peaceful and safest area of the city, and it takes about ten minutes to walk to train station and heart of Florence. Cleanness is superior, most comfortable beds, every day... More

We stayed here from June 12th to the 15th of this year. Although the rooms were large and the staff was very friendly, the bathroom left much to be desired. The shower was extremely small and the room was not connected to it. The staff was great and very helpful with restaurants. Good for the price.

We spent two nights in May, and found the room clean and comfortable. Based on nearby properties, a good value. We also had a private terrace just off our room and it was wonderful to relax after a day of walking and sightseeing, The staff were friendly and helpful, providing a city map and orientation at check in. Location is... More

Staff at the hotel was helpful with restaurant recommendation when we reached the hotel late at night. A printer was provided that was very useful for last minute bookings. The room was very clean although upon entrance the room had a strange smell. The location is a little far from the historic center but if you enjoy walking is not... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
