We had a family room, which was spacious. Service was excellent, but wifi was erratic because we were at the end of the hallway. Room is a bit old, AC not so effective. However, that is normal in Italy for this price range. Location is excellent and convenient to train station (but without the noise and foot traffic). Grocery store... More

Stayed two nights. Only a short 10 minute walk from the Central Station, and 1 minute walk to San Lorenzo Basilica. A little walk and you will be at the Duomo. Right round the corner about 300m away is the central market where we had a variety of food. Room was ok in size but the air-conditioner was not powerful... More

Our stay was great. Location is perfect. Room was comfortable but bit noisy at night and early morning. Breakfast was good. Loved the homemade yogurt and overall selection. We would definitely stay here again!

LOVE this B&B. More than what I have expected. First they upgraded me to a suite which can fit 10 people. It was a large and beautiful room. Fit for a queen. Love the rooms because of the Italian touch. The staffs are not so friendly and could hardly speak English. It was so difficult asking restaurant suggestions and other... More

This was my first time to stay at Residenza Castiglioni and I was very pleased with it. Easy walk to hotel from the train station. The room was spectacular, approximately 18 X 29 feet with high ceilings and medieval scenes painted on the walls. 2 very tall French windows looked down on the street. Small but adequate bathroom. Very nice... More

A great place to stay at a walking distance from the Santa Maria Novella Station and many other places of sight seeing. Rooms are big and pretty, well secured & quiet premises. Staff and service is also good.

I recently stayed at Residenza Castiglioni and it was one of the best hotel experience I have had in Italy. I travel to the country for work around 4 times a year and always have a hard time find good accommodations for a reasonable price, I couldn't have been more delighted with this find. The rooms are massive with an... More

This was the ideal space for us... when imagining a honeymoon in Italy, this is the place to spend it. Beautiful rooms, cleaned daily with a lot attention to detail. We couldn't have asked for better. They went out of their way to make it as memorable as possible, down to the chilled bottle of proseco in a silver bucket.... More

The Residenza Castiglioni is a good value B&B. It is centrally located and within easy walking distance of the Maria Novella railway station and a relatively short walk to many of Florence's major attractions including the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi. The room was large, nicely furnished, warm and comfortable. The breakfast [which was included in the price] was... More

We stayed 6 nights in this B&B. Our suite, which was told to be the nicest room, was very spacious, light, nicely equiped and tidy. The noice from the street was very acceptable, even if it was an important passage between the S.M. Del Fiore and the San Lorenzo. We enjoyed the breakfast. The choice was limited, but everything -... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
