Residence Hilda is in an amazing location, a 5 minute walk from the Duomo, surrounded by shops and cafe-bars. The apartments are beautifully decorated and well maintained. What really sets them apart from others though is the personal touch. They get in touch with you before you arrive to find out your room preferences and, when our plane diverted due... More

This was a great place to stay in Florence. It had the comfort of an apartment with the service of a hotel. The front desk staff was incredibly helpful in suggesting things to do and places to eat that weren't touristy. The apartments were clean and had many amenities for cooking which was very useful. The location is perfect.

I appreciate a spotless and spacious suite, filled with natural light, and especially a property with such a wonderful and responsive staff. Our requested restaurant reservations were ready upon arrival. The price was good from Secret Escapes. The only concern was street noise, and the heaters were just under the windows, which would have been a great location except that... More

Good base from which to tour Florence. It's 7-10 minutes walk away from the Duomo, surrounded by restaurants, cafes and shops. Supermarkets and a laundromat are close as well. These work well especially if you have a family. Some street noise can be heard if you have an apartment/suites facing the street but we found that all quietens down by... More

Everything was perfect about this property from the time we checked in and the location is close enough to the sights, but still feels calm and quiet. We had a lovely superior suite on the 2nd floor, which was spacious and light. Coming from a travel agent, this is 5 star by the highest standards!

The apartment was very spacious and clean and the staff were very helpful. The location of the apartment, within a few hundred metres of the Duomo, provided a great base to explore the wonderful city.

We just got back from spending 12 nights at the Residence Hilda. It could not have been nicer. The accommodation was very comfortable and well laid out. Modern, but not at all chilly in feel. Nice functional kitchen area equipped for cooking and eating as well as teas, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, oil and vinegar provided. And a welcome sweet... More

I highly recommend Residence Hilda. A great location, literally minutes (walking) from Duomo. Tucked away in a quiet street leading away from Duomo, the hotel is near apartments, restaurants and shops - but in a nice way. The street has lots of local atmosphere, which is very enjoyable. The suites are impeccable - clean, modern, good size, great beds, towels... More

We stayed in the Deluxe Suite on the top floor which was delightful - spacious, bright & quiet. Residence Hilda is in a fantastic location as it's only a short walk to all the main sights. The staff were very pleasant & helpful & recommended some good restaurants. Already planning a return trip.

Very good location, short walk until the Duomo and Academy; bright, clean, LARGE and well-furnished rooms, silent, staff was always very kind and helpful. Wi-fi was reliable, lots of shops and eateries around. No downsides.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
