Most travelers experience arriving at their accommodation thinking this does not look as good as it did on the website. Hilda is the opposite, it is even better than the website. The rooms are so big, so bright and so clean. The position is fantastic, could not be better. The staff are so helpful and on the ball. This is... More

My friend recommended us to stay here. It's very nice and cozy place like we were in our home. There's a lithe that we could cook and the supermarket was just couple steps from Residence Hilda. All kitchenware were available including the olive oil and balsamic, what a completed place. The location's excellence. So did the services. The staff were... More

Great location. Very clean. Excellent staff. Rooms are wonderful. Small apartments actually. Duomo is right at the end of the road. Breakfast close by was great! If I go back top Florence we will stay here again. Nuff said!

Outstanding location. Walking distance to everything. Clean, large, and great looking place to stay. The room is more akin to an apartment or loft than a hotel since it has a layout that nicely separates the bedroom, kitchen, and bath. The renovations to the building bring together old world charm with new world comforts. Friendly and courteous staff. I wish... More

I am travelling by myself and stayed in Residence Hilda's smallest apartment (Classic Suite). Clean, comfortable, relaxing, nicely decorated and a convenient location. The studio is spacious and would also be adequate for 2 people. The air conditioning works well and the staff are friendly and helpful. It had everything I needed. I could not fault this accommodation at all... More

I absolutely love Residence Hilda!! It was listed in the NY Times several years ago as a gem...and it is. The rooms are enormous, complete with kitchens, a couch..large bathrooms, and lovely bedrooms. I have stayed there many times in the last 4 years and all room configurations are lovely. The front desk management is superb;they are incredibly welcoming, informative,... More

We really can't say enough about Residence Hilda. Great location which let us walk everywhere. Helpful staff who guided us to excellent places to eat and solved what few problems we had. When there were wifi issues, they were resolved very quickly. Having kitchen facilities was a real plus since there are a supermarket and bakery a few steps away.... More

Excellent position Central to The Duomo. The apartment is well appointed and has air conditioning, essential in the Summer months. The staff have been very helpful, even organising shopping for our baby. We aim to stay again next year, you cannot find a better place to stay.

Lovely clean apartment. Area relatively quiet with amenities and the Duomo on the doorstep! Be aware of heavy footed people in the apartment above you though - our apartment had something that rattled in the ceiling every time people thudded their way across their floor! I'd go for a top floor apartment to avoid that. Would have liked better furniture... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
