Very good hotel in a historic building. Basilica Santa Croce is just round the corner, and Piazza Della Signoria and the Bargello are a stone's throw away. Short walk to the Duomo and the Accademia. A big thank you to Gabrielle and Mario for making my stay such a comfortable one (to Gabrielle - the smiley face in the morning... More

I really wanted to be able to give this property the highest rating possible as we absolutely adored the people who run it. Gabrielle and his brother Mario do an amazing job with what they have. It is a historical 600 year old property so you need to keep in mind although it is extremely charming and clean it is... More

This charming hotel is run by two hard working brothers. They were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful stay in Florence. They gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities. Don't miss the Piazze Michelangelo, it's a hike but the view is spectacular and free!! The rooms are small in the... More

Loved our stay at the Hotel Santa Croce! The staff was super friendly and gave us a great orientation of Florence. The location was close to major sights, but on a quiet side street so avoided the big crowds. Right around the corner from beautiful Santa Croce cathedral. Great restaurant recommendation (Anita) with delicious food and inexpensive. Rooms were typical... More

Had a great 2 night stay at hotel Santa Croce. This is the place in Florence where Michaelangelo grew up so there's a lot of history here. Our stay began with a huge smile and pleasant welcome from Gabrielle. He and his brother Mario do an excellent job running their small family hotel. There is no elevator but it was... More

This is a small, historic hotel located in the heart of Florence. Just round the corner from Santa Croce, everything is in easy walking distance, including the Duomo and the Uffizi. Upon arrival, we were given refreshments (a very nice touch) and our bags were taken up to the room for us whilst we were given some recommendations as to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
STAYING AT HOTEL SANTA CROCE gives the possibility to live a unique experience in the magical atmosphere of Florence. Small but welcoming, Hotel Santa Croce is immersed in the marvellous historical centre, right in the heart of the artistic, cultural and commercial life of the city. The Hotel is situated in an historical building dating back to the 600s and stands on the remains of an ancient Roman amphitheatre. The illustrious Michelangelo Buonarroti spent his childhood years in the adjoining house (there is a marble plaque showing evidence of this on the wall of the first floor). While just a few metres away you can find all of the most important monuments and museums, as well as the most renowned bars for those who would like a taste of the Florentine night-life. Situated only 100 metres from Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery and Piazza Santa Croce (from where the Hotel's name derives), you can admire the enchanting Basilica where the remains of the greatest artists, writers, poets and scientists in Italian history are buried; we are also just a few steps away from il Duomo, il Battistero, the magnificent Campanile di Giotto and the Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore and Santa Maria Novella, not to mention the precious Ponte Vecchio, under which Florence's rushing River Arno flows. Or if you would prefer to dedicate some of your free-time to shopping, you can spend hours walking up and down Via Tornabuoni or Via De Calzaiuoli discovering the best names in Italian, and international fashion. The breakfast room, cosy, warm and welcoming, will help you wake up in the best of moods. There is a 24-hour reception service and staff are always willing to help wherever possible.
