This place was pretty nice actually. It's more of an apartment building than a hotel but it had some pretty nice amenities. We stayed in the Michelangelo suite and it was pretty nice with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kind of combined little dining room-kitchen-living room. There was a supermarket very close by as well as little boutiques to... More

Fantastic apartment to stay in. We stayed in the two bedroom apartment on the 5th floor and the views were incredible. Very clean and all amenities available. Literally on the door step of the Duomo and square. Staff are very attentive and on arrival were extremely welcoming and more than willing to help with organising tours etc. Excellent location to... The Palazzo Gamba was our favorite during a 2 week vacation in Italy. Two bedrooms and one of the balconies looked right at the Duomo and across all of Florence. Sunset was absolutely magical. We paid 10 euros each to climb the Duomo. It was packed with tourists at the top marveling over the view. We returned to the Palazzo... More

Great location with a view of the doors of paradise. What else do you need during your vacation in the birthplace of modern culture! Rooms are great and are very well decorated. Celings are just amazing! The hotel staff is wonderfull, they came to look after us in the rain. The center of Florence does not allow cars and it... More

This was a great, family-friendly hotel for us. Our group was composed of two adults and two kids (ages 11 and 13). We stayed in the Leonardo apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The apartment featured one small queen bedroom off of the entryway, a bathroom along the hallway, an open central room with living area, dining area, and... More

We usually stay in a B&B around the corner from Gamba but it was sold out. We decided to take a try here and we absolutely loved it here.....the location is amazing. We had a 1st Floor two bed apartment with three terraces..it was roomy, clean, airy and had views all around ..we could practically touch the duomo and people...great stay... More

Great location and huge main bedroom and balcony overlooking the Duomo. We spent my wife's birthday there & sat on the balcony with a bottle of Prosecco - sensational view of the cathedral - it is literally about 10 metres away. Great staff and all clean as well. There is a kitchen with pots etc, though we didn't eat in... More

I stayed for 6 nights at Palazzo Gamba, a small number of perfectly located serviced apartments. Loved the place from the beginning. The building is located just across the Duomo, and most units overlook the Cathedral, Baptisterio and Giotto's Campanile. Even though the property is in the pedestrian area, it is rather easy to reach and one of the best... More

We were lucky enough to spend several nights in the 2 bedroom apartment. We looked out over Il Duomo. Fabulous! Even better was the staff. They helped us with tickets, suggestions on places to eat, and we're just generally great to chat with. I am sure that we fell in love with Florence even more because of them.

We have stayed at Palazzo Gamba twice - the last time in the penthouse apartment on top of the hotel with our four grown up children. The location is marvellous just next to the Duomo and close to most attractions. You have the most fantastic view to Duomo and the Baptistery. We enjoyed having breakfast on the terrace so close... Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
