My wife and I loved pretty much everything about this hotel. Unfortunately, every time we recall our stay in this hotel we always remember one rude and pompous staff - Adrian. We booked directly on the hotel's website. Very happy about the price we paid for. The room was nice and spacious. It tries for that Florentine style which my... more
We stayed here on hotel points, so it was a good deal. The hotel was charming, and in a good, quiet location. It was still easy to walk anywhere in Florence. Easy walk to and from the train station as well. We got in quite early(around 11 or 12), and they allowed us to check in. The room large for... more
The hotel is charming but beware of thieves. We had money stolen from our room safe and management were dismissive of our complaint. It soured what had been a lovely stay in Florence. Disappointed that you are not allowed to drink or eat at the tables in the garden - or in your room for that matter. more
My husband and I stayed in this hotel for three nights. It was warm, welcoming and not too far from the bus stop. Actually we walked to the hotel and it took us about ten minutes. The hotel itself was charming and clean but the one thing that we learned was that there are mosquitoes in Italy and that you... more
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Donatello for three nights. The hotel staff was not very nice and were rude at times. The room was spacious. The first night, however, our room was a little musty, but then the musty smell went away after the first night. The room was clean- one of the hotel's strong points. The... more
Pros - Right in the centre of the city - short walking distance to mercato and duomo and David, decent continental breakfast Cons - extra costs everywhere, be careful if driving b/c it is 25 euro a day to park around the corner, they charge 9 euro for 2 hrs of wi-fi internet service, can't eat in rooms, rooms are... more
Good location - you can walk to all major sites. There are nice places to dine nearby. The rooms are fair and clean. The receptionist was helpfull. Breakfast was not that great - limited variety of bread. Carefull if you go by car - parking is paid in a lot nearby and traffic is limited in the centre of Florence.... more
Run, run far away! My husband and I got BIT all over our bodies. We had to kill so many mosquitos overnight. Please consider staying somewhere else. Our 2 day stay at Hotel Donatello was not nice at all. When we complained, the staff had a nonchalant, and even confrontational attitude. She blamed us for having brought in mosquitos, when... more
The hotel from the outside looks great! The receptionist was really helpful with giving directions around the area. However the wait staff at the dining/bar area are rather rude. The rooms are great size, but the misleading Wi-fi connection isn't free! Another inconvenience is the rooms are hard to get around. more
