The Hotel is situated in a quiet area in Florence; about 15 minutes walk from the train station and main bus stop. I spent 2 weeks in Italy together with my girlfriend driving between different cities in Italy. We spent three nights in Florence. Both of my girlfriend and I are very well travelled. Our experience in Hotel Donatello was... More

The hotel has a lovely little garden for breakfast (although the breakfast choice is rather limited) and good location. It does not offer free WiFi, the cost was 10 EUR for 2 days - which in my opinion nowadays is way too much. Hotel stuff was helpful and organized taxi in couple of minutes time.

Not sure what people are expecting for such reasonable rates, I'm having a lovely stay, albeit as a Florence base. Breakfast is usual continental affair and the coffee from the machine is surprisingly good. I'm travelling with my 14 year old daughter and the room is large and air con works ( make sur window is closed), staff have been... More

Don't, absolutely do not accept a room exchange with this Hotel if you originally booked with Hotel Malaspina! The lady at reception was extremely rude and abrupt. We were shoved in a decent size room in front of the hotel and near the elevator and reception desk, where we heard every conversation of each hotel guest and staff that entered... More

Writing this review from the hotel itself. The Hotel stay for me and my family was absolute Horror. To start with the old lady at the reception needs to be fired...she is not at all fit for the reception job..she should be somewhere in the laundry washing. It was very hot in Florence and our room AC wasn't working..I complained... More

Just stayed there several days. Price of room flucturates depending on webside. Direct contact quotes €100, official rate €300 but can be found on the web for around €50. Hotel only interested in additional charges: €23 for Wi-Fi (which is free in most restaurants nearby), deposit of a suitcase €2,50, phone from the room costs extra if you want to... More

I recently stayed here with a tour group made up of students, parents, and teachers. There is a 5 euro per device per night charge for Internet. The receptionist gave everyone a hard time about getting the service. She told the students to "go outside..the internet is free on the street." Teenagers without connection is not a pretty sight but... More

Great location, 10 min walk from city center, but feels quiet and comfortable, next to a park. The staff couldn't have been nicer, the owner opened the bar for night caps, when we got in late. Breakfast was good and we were able to enjoy it outside in the beautiful back garden. Our room was large and clean. There was... More

I stayed here overnight with a friend. The staff were not very friendly. The rooms were adequate. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of A/C. Only major problem was that the wifi was not free and even if you paid for wifi it barely functioned properly. If you need a quick place to stay for a night or... More

Just spent a week here. Excellent location just a 10 min walk from the station and about the same to the city centre. Nice room and bathroom - ours was room 226 which on the 2nd floor and overlooked the courtyard - the downside were the mix of service given by the staff, most were very very helpful but a... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
