This hotel is well placed, as it is located between the main stations and the city center, and it is easy to walk arround, as you need only few minutes. There is nothing fancy about it, the rooms are big and clean, but do not wait much more than that.

I stayed at the Hotel Donatello for 5 nights during Christmas. I was greeted warmly by name when I checked in at 12:30 a.m. From there on out the staff was amazingly cheerful and helpful in every way. They made sure I saw sites that were off the beaten track and helped with every arrangement possible. My room was spacious... More

Our room was very nice, spacious and inviting. The hotel staff was very helpful with whatever we needed. The breakfast was good and the little patio was a nice place to sit and enjoy the meal on the nice warm sunny September days. Everything was within a short walking distance from this hotel which was located on a street across... More

Adequate room, clean, no fancy frills, no extras, but everything I needed was there. Wifi worked fine (although I had to pay for it). The hotel is situated 15 minutes walk from the railwaystation, 5-10 minutes from Piazza San Marco and Piazza Mercato. Hotel staff indeed have a somewhat unpolished way of approaching you, but every question I asked and... More

To get to our room, we had to navigate through a maze of corridors, take two separate elevators, and if there was a fire in this hotel, no-one would navigate their way out in time! Mean and unhelpful receptionists.

Dear customer, we are so sorry that you are not satisfied. The hotel is in an old building. On each floor is an escape route. And on all the floors hang cards where are the emergency exits. When you come back to Florence we give you a better room More

We stayed here in June 2015 for 2 days. Hotel has is divided into 2 sections, old and new and looks short of space as it is in heart of the city. Location is good. There is no free WiFi and staff is not so cordial. Stay away if you can.

Have just spent 3 nights at this hotel, unfortunately not quite a 3 star hotel. Located 10 to 15 minutes walk from the train station, it is easy to find. Overall not a bad location, only a 10 minute walk from the hotel into the main tourist area of Florence. The hotel is very tired looking, definitely needs a freshen... More

The hotel was nice overall, and fairly pretty, but the room didn't seem very clean, with something on the walls, and some dust. The continental breakfast was very good, and the courtyard you could eat in was beautiful.

Reception staff are well-mannered but not friendly at all. The room is not far from the main station and within walking distance from the city centre. It is also only a few minutes walk from the Central Market (not to be missed). The breakfast gentleman (Paolo) was very friendly and hard working. The others from the team were a bit... More

The Hotel is situated in a quiet area in Florence; about 15 minutes walk from the train station and main bus stop. I spent 2 weeks in Italy together with my girlfriend driving between different cities in Italy. We spent three nights in Florence. Both of my girlfriend and I are very well travelled. Our experience in Hotel Donatello was... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
