The exterior of Antica Dimora Firenze on Via San Gallo looks like more like it hosts a dentist or solicitor - there are no flashy neon signs but behind the small brass plaque is a charming townhouse housing an elegant six-bedroomed B&B on its second floor. Staff are friendly and warm; we were greeted halfway up the stairs and offered... More

Perfect location, walking distance (max 20-25 mins) from all the main touristic spots! Excellent service! Breakfast is minimal but enough. Room is clean and charming. Parking is missing and need to pay for an external public parking which is 15 mins walking distance from the hotel.

This was my second visit to Antica Dimora Firenze, both visits I have been accompanied by a group of friends. Again everyone was pleased with the rooms, décor, service, breakfast and attention to detail. The staff are friendly and efficient, we arrived early and the lady who was cleaning our room rushed around and had it spick and span in no... More

Delightful place to stay. Will be coming back here again. Great big fluffy towels, spotless bathroom with bidet. Fridge and safe for those items you cannot afford to be careless with. Lovely atmosphere coffee in the main dining area.

Some of the best hotel choices in Florence are not the most obvious. That's true of Antica Dimore Firenze and its sister B&Bs in the historic district. No big, bright signs, no neon lights mark this cozy gem, just a small brass plaque announcing number "Via San Gallo - Antica Dimore Firenze." Located on the second floor (that's third floor... More

Antica Dimora was a lovely place to stay. Our room had a small terrace, nice-sized bathroom and a comfortable bed. The breakfast every morning was delicious -- particularly the croissants! -- and the service was incredibly helpful. Be ready that it's cash only!

The Antica Dimora his more like a private house than a hotel - sweet, small rooms with Tuscan colors, quiet and refined, extremely nice owners and wine and coffee always available in the little lobby. Its simple but great for the price and the location.

The room was a bit small but was clean and had all the facilities. There was a seating/breakfast area in the reception hall, which had wine and a selection of biscuits cakes and nuts, which were available to the guests, with an honesty box for the cost of the wine. There was a good selection of food for a continental... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
