Comfortable and colourful B&B, ups several flights of stairs (lift not working when we visited). Our room faced the street, but it was very quiet. Helpful and efficient staff who recommended excellent local restaurants that we would not otherwise have found. Liked honesty bar and free tea/coffee and pastries. Would have no hesitation in returning.

The location is very central to all of Florence. We could walk everywhere. The neighborhood is very safe. Our room was beautifully decorated, we even had a loft! And they literally give you the keys to the house: the street front door, the "hotel" front door and your room door. The breakfast room is lovely and there is a terrace... More

We loved this B&B. It's small, intimate with a lovely hostess and a delicious breakfast. It's a ten minute walk from The Academy (where the David is located). It's in a neighborhood away from the crowded downtown which we loved. We booked the room with a small balcony that was also nice. Because we knew Florence well, we didn't need... More

Small Hotel in central Florence on second floor. Rooms quaint, decorated beautifully. Ours had a small terrace. Breakfast was excellent, great choice and plenty of it, very relaxed. Air conditioning, beautifully clean. But the most outstanding thing were the people; they could not do enough for us. Made this a memorable stay.

Great location 15 min walk to main sites. Has a sister hotel for backup. Felt more like a private apartment. Staff only there from 9 to 12 which is a little bit of a problem if you need help after those hours but main hotel is just 5 min down the road. It actually an apartment but was comfortable and... One of our favourite parts of the hotel was the breakfast each day. We had a chance to meet with other travellers and get their ideas and experiences. The breakfast itself included meats, cheese, fruit, yogurt and pastries/breads. As a Canadian I really appreciated the drip coffee to start my day. Of course there was espresso as well for those... This small hotel near the university in Florence was beautiful, welcoming and very comfortable. It was in a great location, just 5 minutes walk from the main attractions in Florence, on the second floor of a building which gave you the illusion of really living in the city. The exterior of Antica Dimora Firenze on Via San Gallo looks like more like it hosts a dentist or solicitor - there are no flashy neon signs but behind the small brass plaque is a charming townhouse housing an elegant six-bedroomed B&B on its second floor. Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
