We stayed for 4 nights in August and were so pleased with our choice of hotel! Located in the heart of Florence, wonderful big room (we had the one with the balcony) decor throughout is lovely and the breakfast very good. Would stay again ! Thank you for a lovely stay :)

One of our favourite parts of the hotel was the breakfast each day. We had a chance to meet with other travellers and get their ideas and experiences. The breakfast itself included meats, cheese, fruit, yogurt and pastries/breads. As a Canadian I really appreciated the drip coffee to start my day. Of course there was espresso as well for those... very comfortable and cozy small hotel, just 5-6 rooms. nice common room with snacks/breakfast. definitely an italian feel. short walk to most attractions in florence. staff quite kind and helpful, unobtrusive...you really feel like you 'own' part of a small house while you are there.

This small hotel near the university in Florence was beautiful, welcoming and very comfortable. It was in a great location, just 5 minutes walk from the main attractions in Florence, on the second floor of a building which gave you the illusion of really living in the city. It was beautifully furnished. The staff on reception were friendly, they arranged... More

Dear Madame, we thank you so much for your very nice words in your message about our Residence, our staff, our location. But we are so sorry for what happened to your hand, so much that after that, the management decided to remove this cook-egg from the breakfast-table. Hoping you forget soon this incident, we remain to welcome you again.... More

The exterior of Antica Dimora Firenze on Via San Gallo looks like more like it hosts a dentist or solicitor - there are no flashy neon signs but behind the small brass plaque is a charming townhouse housing an elegant six-bedroomed B&B on its second floor. Staff are friendly and warm; we were greeted halfway up the stairs and offered... More

Perfect location, walking distance (max 20-25 mins) from all the main touristic spots! Excellent service! Breakfast is minimal but enough. Room is clean and charming. Parking is missing and need to pay for an external public parking which is 15 mins walking distance from the hotel.

This was my second visit to Antica Dimora Firenze, both visits I have been accompanied by a group of friends. Some of the best hotel choices in Florence are not the most obvious. That's true of Antica Dimore Firenze and its sister B&Bs in the historic district. No big, bright signs, no neon lights mark this cozy gem, just a small brass plaque announcing number "Via San Gallo - Antica Dimore Firenze." Located on the second floor (that's third floor... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
