I booked online after reading the comments. I find that most of the negative comments are in fact never experienced by me. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with great service by the co-owners, Gianni and Onarina and their staff Emilio and Andrea. I spent 7 nights at the hotel. The location is fantastic. Close to absolutely everything.... More

The location of the hotel is perfect, its near the Main Train Station (Santa Maria), Santa Maria Piazza, Duomo and many others piazzas and landmarks. The stuff were very nice and helpful. The room was good and clean.

Hotel Lombardia is located on Via Panzani, at one of the ends of the street (the one close to the train station) - it might be quite hard to find it since it has a very small sign indicating its presence. Location is very good, it is some 2-3 minutes walking from the Cathedral (Santa Maria dei Fiore) or from... More

It is located just three or four minutes walk from the train station (Santa Maria Novella station.) It's cozy, homey, clean, and quiet. The owners are always there making sure all your needs are met. There is no elevator but the owner will take your luggage up to your room. The room was clean and had some snacks, water and... More

We spend a weekend at the hotel and I should say it is a very nice place according to our experience. We stayed in a superior room, in the top floor. The room was super comfortable, a really nice and renewed one. A large bed, a small but beautiful bathroom (I have seen many comments on this subject but the... More

The hotel has a great location, being close to the train station and in walking distance from Florence central attractions. And that was all the positives. The hotel facilities are very poor. The only positive of the room was it's size. The furniture was old and used, the bed uncomfortable, the tv was very small and the room had a... More

This hotel is very well located. The staff is very nice. Decent views. The breakfast is great if you get there in time because it goes quickly. There is no elevator, but the staff will carry your luggage. Air conditioning works and you need it in summer. This hotel looks a bit shabby, but is relatively pleasant, comfortable, and decent... Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
